we are renovating our entire living / dining room. We would love to put sconces on either side of our fireplace, however we have HVAC on both sides. I'm pretty sure this makes running electrical impossible. We do not want to put the sconces on either side of the TV on the part of our fireplace that juts out, because we may have a larger TV in the future, or whoever buys the house after us may.

Our house was built in 1946, so we really need lights in our living room out of necessity, because we have no ceiling lights whatsoever. We would like to have sconces or pendants possibly to really make a statement in the living room.

What are your thoughts for how we could make sconces a reality, or ideas for hanging pendant lights on either side of the fireplace?
