Master Bedroom Style Direction?

The master bedroom is the last major area of decision left on our project. I seem to have a case of split personality as far as the direction I want to go. The buyers of our previous home bought our former bedroom furniture, so it’s a clean slate. The house overall is Modern Prairie. Hardwood is natural finish white oak. The wood windows are a custom mix walnut color stain. I can see it with off-white walls, and a wood or navy bed. I can also picture an accent wall in a deep navy or charcoal, with a wood or cream upholstered bed. Here is the room, with hardwoods covered, and a photo of what the hardwoods look like. There’s 84” between the two wide-spaced windows. I plan to put a king size bed there. I’ll attach some inspirations in the comments. TIA for your help!!

I dunno...how about restful, peaceful and timeless for a bedroom...?

I love this space! So pretty. I see it is listed in design dilemma and build a home so you should get some replies. I would keep it very simple and clean lined. I love your navy idea and think that sounds lovely and serene. Perhaps a little sitting area?

I would absolutely not paint a focal wall navy blue. No, no , no, fight your inner Joanna to not do that. Keep colors neutral, focus on texture instead, and go for what sophistication you can in your Modern Prairie.

@cpaul1 you’re right, an accent wall is not something I’ve ever done before, but I knew I could never commit to painting our entire bedroom in a dark color! That said, if I don’t do color on the walls, do I continue to play it safe with a wooden bed, adding the color and texture with bedding and accessories? Or, use an upholstered bed for softness? I’m to the mind-numb (dumb?) state of this project. I knew you all could help direct me toward clarity.

I would go with light walls, wood bed, add in colour and texture with linens, drapes, art and rug.

You already have an accent wall with the fireplace and you will have another with the bed that is all the accent walls needed. Post a pic once you have a bed and bedding .I would do an upholstered headboard

Sorry, the fireplace isn’t in the bedroom, it’s the only photo of my floors that I took after they were finished, but before they were covered for the duration of construction. The same floors are in the bedroom.

Why is in the Building A Home Forum? It’s anout Decorating. And that is where it would get more responses. Contact Houzz to have it moved.

No accent wall here- I'm feeling off-white...

Sophie it is in building a home because she is building this home. It is also in design dilemma. Both are tagged.

I also suggest not doing a feature wall since you have the fireplace. I also suggest painting your bedroom whatever color you want, it does not have to be light or neutral. I just painted my bedroom with Dark Pewter from Behr and I absolutely love it! I prefer a dark bedroom, especially if I'm having a migraine.

Sorry to have offended people by posting about finishes for my new home, currently under construction, in the "Building a home" section, along with "design dilemma" section. I don't spend all my waking hours on this board, so I don't perfectly understand the quirks and etiquette expected here.

I would do an upholstered headboard on the bed because I think it will give more of a feeling of luxury and warmth. Use wood in the space for sure, just in another way with the furniture.

I did find this today, and the store has it in stock. Thoughts?
