Weekend Quilting

Hello Quilters! This has been a busy weekend for us. DS and his family were here Friday and Saturday. We all went to DD's house on Saturday afternoon so the kids could swim.

DH and I both got haircuts after church this morning and I was so tired I took a nap after lunch. I NEVER nap. lol

As I mentioned in Rita's post, my Friday post for the weekend is not showing. I think it probably was my error.

I had posted a picture of the small quilt I made for the granddaughter who is expected in November. I had four leftover blocks and made a doll quilt to match the baby quilt.

Sorry for the poor photo. It was taken the week that we rain every day. I forgot to take a pic of the doll quilt..

What have your been working on this weekend?

I made the Aug. Lotto blocks and I did more work on a top made from leftovers.

I started quilting Bonnie Hunter's Star Stuck this afternoon during a sudden rain shower. This one's for me.

I've been working on lotto blocks and binding my cowboy quilt. I'm changing my stitch for binding, so that took a while to get used to. Up until now, I used a slip stitch (like hemming a skirt) to sew the back. I tried a ladder stitch for the last quilt. That was not my favorite (it may have been the fabric or a really dull needle). So I did the cowboy quilt in a different slip stitch. Donna Poster is my latest youtube quilting guru, so I followed her instructions. This stitch is a little less noticeable than the regular slip stitch.

Then, my computer crashed yesterday, so most of yesterday was taken up with that.

Lois' productivity has inspired me! I recently reorganized my sewing closet and ended up with three large bins with projects either started or planned! ACK! :)

Last weekend I quilted a small top my mom had made. She passed away two years ago and was unable to quilt for quite a while before that, so I'd guess it was completed 5-8 years ago. I sent it to Jackie for the Baby James collection (she posted a photo).

This past weekend I finished a quilted jacket. I put it away in frustration a LONG time ago (at least a year, but I bet longer). It's done now! No pics yet, though.

Next up - I have two landscape panels that my mom made. I'm going to assemble them into a tote bag and send it to my sister for her birthday Aug. 17. After that I have a full-size log cabin top my mom made that I'm going to quilt for sis-in-law for Christmas. Mom had only made small baby quilts for quite a while, so I'm guessing this top is 10-15 years old, maybe older.

Lois and Donna are both inspiring me to get my butt in gear. This morning, I added borders to the top I was working on yesterday, have it sandwiched and the binding made. There are three other tops ready to sandwich, so I pulled out backing for those. My laundry is on the line, ready to come in and remake the beds. Fresh from the line! DS#2 was here on the weekend. He already did his sheets and towel. What a good boy!
