I love Roald Dahl

Did any one else try this rose ? I love it . It is lacking in the fragrance department but over flowing in charm and effort. It is putting out a flush rivaling a spring flush. It is fantastic!!

Hi modest ! I just got it this spring. It’s very tidy . Really enjoying its color !

Wow! What a stunner! I'm really warming up to this colour range after temporarily planting Molineux in my main beds with pink. It adds a sweet softness. This rose looks so healthy that one might forgive it for lacking some fragrance. From where did you buy it, Lilyfinch? You are a terrible enabler. : )

Vapor , I really recommend it !! I like it better than my molineux , the blooms last longer. Got it from David Austin this spring. Get it girl !! You won’t be sorry. :)

Lily that Roald Dahl is one gorgeous rose, it’s so full and healthy, very impressive. I wonder will it smell kick in when it’s more mature? Your Olivia rose is beautiful too and one I have considered but was worried about it fading to almost white in the heat. How does yours hold up in the heat as far as the pink fading?

Do you have blackspot pressure where you live? How is it doing with blackspot so far? Is it quick on the rebloom?

    Sorry I missed these responses!

Boncrow , Olivia hadn’t faded much if any for me. We are having unusual temps and lack of humidity here so it’s been so beautiful. I wonder if this will be a new pattern but it’s just been in the pleasant 80s for a month or so. olivia is perfect on the bs ! So healthy.

Hcarn- we do have black spot here . And a lot of my roses get it fierce ! So far RD has been great in the health . I’ve noticed this year roses that didn’t have any bs last year are getting it this year . It’s so weird! Also RD reblooms well in flushes , no blooms in between it seems . I love it !

Lilyfinch, I just saw this post now - I know it's from last year, but just wanted to say your Roald Dahl rose is gorgeous! I was considering getting this rose, and now I am sure I will. We live in the same area (well, within 50 miles), so it should grow well in my back yard too!

Hi alisa !! These photos are from my garden in Tennessee. Do you live there or here in California? We moved :(. I have two tree rose forms of this now ! I can’t wait for it to bloom . No matter where you are located I think you’ll love it

I just ordered a bareroot online! Can’t wait - its still planting season so I will be on time to get blooms this summer!

I am in Riverside California. I was so envious of how green your garden is in that photo! Now that makes sense 🙂 You probably remember that every plant in the Inland Empire/Murrieta area is always a grayish shade of green, lol! Was wondering “how did she get everything to be so green?”

Lovely garden in Tennessee you have there! And with two tree roses? Please post pictures when they bloom! Tree roses are lovely and are so rare!
