Paint Builder Grade Cabinets?

I know not everyone likes the look of painted cabinets but I am one who does...we painted our last kitchen cabinets before moving (had them professionally done) and we loved them but they were solid oak cabinets. Our new house was a new build (we didn't build it) and just has your run of the mill builder grade cabinets. Will they paint up okay or will I be completely disappointed? we plan to use a professional painter but before I start down that route, I thought I'd get opinions here!

We painted our own. I'm not sure I would spend the money to have them painted. It would probably cost the same amount to buy IKEA cabinets.

I watch a lot of HGTV and from what I understand, builder grade cabinets are not up to par with real wood cabinets. IMO, I would not waste my time or money to repaint them. If you do not like them, I would have them replaced.

It seems like a lot of money to paint poor cabinets. I would pass until I could upgrade the cabinets.

Not worth having a professional paint. It'll be about the same as just replacing them, so unless you're going to DIY it I would not paint them or just replace them.

Either spend the 6 months of nights and weekends to DIY, or start planning a redo. Painting junk leaves you with painted junk and a 7-9K bill.

Our last kitchen was only $3-4k to paint (it was a professional) so I was expecting around that cost again but we must have gotten a good deal through our contractor! I will definitely look into replacing instead. They are great cabinets and I know lots of people love them, I just don't love the color :( I'm a white kitchen type of person!

You could do IKea new for that price and IMO if this is anew space to you I would live with the kitchen a while to see if you love it at all before spending anything .
