Mohawk RevWood Plus laminate - anyone used?

last modified: 7 years ago

Hi all,

I'm looking for any feedback on Mohawk's RevWood Plus laminate that is supposedly waterproof. The product just came out this year and I cant find any homeowner reviews on it.

We had a water leak and have to replace our three year old, beautiful, engineered hardwoods. I'm sick about it! But with two young kids and two small dogs, and already having two water leaks since being in the home only six years, I'm nervous about any other water issues.

I actually nixed laminate off my list early on but at a local flooring store this past weekend the sales guy showed us Mohawk RevWood Plus. He installed it in his renal home that he currently rents to his daugher. I briefly looked at the LVP, but I just do not like the varigated look that seems to be so popular right now in wood lookalike flooring. So he guided us to the Mohawk.

I still want to go back and look at LVP, but I also have learned about SCP by We Ship Floors (however I haven't seen a hue that I like from them). So I'm torn between sticking with engineered hardwood or trying something different in laminate or LVP/SCP.

Our budget is $6/sq ft for the flooring itself.

We had Revwood installed in our Florida home (slab) - livingroom and 2 bedrooms - 2 years ago and we love it! We have had a 70 and a 16 lb dog and absolutely no issues with scratching or water. We love it and would install again in future home.

Anyone ever lay the RevWood laminate over tiled floors? i hear it is easier with the vinyl but think we want to stay with laminate due to scratching issues reported with the vinyl

I have the same question. Can the RevWood plus be floated over a tiled kitchen floor?

Nope. Not if you want it to actually wear well and last.

How is the Revwood Plus in your home holding up? Have you had issues specifically with the waterproofing areas in your bathrooms? Any feedback would be appreciated.

@francienebaca Outer Banks (that you asked about above) is Revwood Select from the Boardwalk Collective Collection.

@dldigi I have been shopping Revwood Select and Plus. I was told that yes it can definitely be installed over tile or stone. They can't install it over wood because of potential moisture/mold issues.

I have been researching Mohawk Revwood Select and Plus for my new home I love the Revwood Plus Elderwood Collection Sandbank Oak but I am concerned that the beveled edge will look like a grid in certain light Has anyone used the Elderwood Collection? Do the bevels look fake?

We had RevWood installed in our Ocala, FL home about a year ago. It's installed everywhere, kitchens, bathrooms and lanai. Project completed just about a year ago. Absolutely no issues even with 35 lb young dog sliding around while playing. Very easy cleanup, still looks just as good as the day it was installed. Love the look and durability!

Someone reported having revwood select and said moving furniture on it caused the color to fade. Like scooting in and out dining chairs. I was ready to order it today. Has anyone else had issues with revwood select discoloring due to furniture scooting?

I havent had this issue but i put the stick on furniture pads on bottom of all chairs and tables right away

@Bill Nye I just saw the fresh spring pecan at the store and it is gorgeous!

I think we are going to commit to the sunbathed pecan. It's such a commitment and a little scary.

I have had the RevWood Boardwalk collection for about 9 months now. I think the color is wicker. I'm wondering if anyone has trouble cleaning it? I use the Bona floor cleaner but it leaves what looks like "ghost" spots where water and dog drool spots were. I have to dry the floor completely after mopping it in order for it to look clean. Can anyone offer any solutions for cleaning it.

@Janine Hoffman I was thinking about installing RevWood Boardwalk wicker - do you have a pictures of it installed and the ghost spots you are experiencing. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bob Smith - your floors look amazing! These photos show a color that looks darker than on Mohawk website. Is it a dark brown or does it depend on the lighting? Also, I had heard comments about this line showing a "candy cane" pattern on some boards. Could you comment on that detail? Thank you!

I have Mohawk RevWood Plus in aged copper oak. It’s been installed for three years in my dining room, living room and hallway. We’re getting ready to install the same product in our
sunroom. We have been overjoyed with this product. 3 years later, not a single scratch.

@janine Hoffman I have RevWoos Premier in Cattail Pecan in my Kitchen, great room and office. I HATE THIS FLOOR there is something wrong with the finish or top layer it is impossible to clean and i have followed manufacturers care instructions to the letter. Brand new custom build and i was so looking forward to easy to maintain floors. I am devastated

@callie miller why is it so hard to clean? Are spots not going away?

  • last year

@Callie Miller The only thing that would work for me is a spin mop. Can get it dry enough to make sure the floor dries clean, no spots.

My local Mohawk dealer warned me not to use my Revwood Plus in my bathrooms. If water gets to the edges of the room and gets between the wall and floor I will have a problem. The installation has to be waterproof caulked just so and I’m worried about that. So I’m going to use tile in my baths but the Revwood in the rest of the house.

I am having the same issue as some others. I have a dog and he drools sometimes. There are ghost spots and I can't get them off. Can anyone suggest something? The floors shouldn't be as hard to clean as they are. I would enjoy them more if they were cleanable. I wonder if there is something wrong with them?

Eric Karl- I saw a photo in your post last year regarding Mohawk RevWood laminate. I am going to get that laminate and also I am painting my walls. In the photo, you have a tan-ish color, which is what I am looking for in my home. Could you tell me what brand paint and color you used on this wall? Thanks.

I don’t know the color name as the room had been freshly painted before I bought the house. The wifey liked the color so I didn’t repaint.

    Okay. Thanks for the reply.
