Laundry room layout. Round 1.

The KD came up with this, but there must be a better way.

The dryer is vented to the outside wall on the immediate left of the appliances. I think there needs to be a base cabinet to the left of the appliances to run the duct through. There is no easy way to bury the vent duct and this is a very short run to the outside without much work at all.

That means the appliances will shift to the right to accommodate the base cabinet.

That also means the dryer will be on the left of the WM. Which would be a hassle for a FL, but still seems like a better solution than a 25" run inside a joist to the other side of the house.

So questions:

Any ideas for a cute substitute for a base cabinet to the left of the appliances? If I put an unfitted cabinet there, it will leave breathing space for various sized appliances. A table will not camouflage the duct.

What do we do with the upper cabinets if the bottom left cabinet is unfitted? Still take them to the left wall?

Would love any ideas you might have!
