Is lopanthas the quad color agave? Do you have any more? What do you do with your agaves? I just made a (Hopefully) sandberm for dry things... made it with pea gravel, sand, and top soil then topped with more peagravel. Hoping it'll drain well in winter because I lost every agave/optunia I had this last winter :(

Yes, the paper bush is the Edgeworthia. I don't have the one you bought yet since mine is growing slowly but I have the white/cream one and I'll get you one. Yes, the lopantha is the quadricolor one and I will bring you one also.

About your bed... I lost every agave that I had except the 2 big guys. So don't give up. I had 2-3-4 years old plants that had real heft to them (like 2 agave montanas that I almost cried about). The thing about the agaves and cacti is not sand it is rock. Sand is the story that you see in the cartoons :-). Or it needs to be sharp sand.

I usually do half and half with dirt and rock. I like the rock you mix in the concrete so you will not find it in the garden isle but the concrete isle at HD or Lowes. Mounds are good.

I usually don't treat my outside plants that nice. The pots are all with half dirt, half with Diatomaceous Earth - aka burnt clay, natural cat litter, oil absorbent - and then I get a fair amount (maybe 1/4) of the rock I told you about. Then I top everything with pea gravel. It looks good and the cacti tell me they don't like the back splash when it rains :-).

I will also bring you all my opuntias and cylindropuntias samples.

Regarding where to post trades - traditionally they have always been in their separate thread, not in the swap announcement thread. It would be good to stay organized like this (and thanks to Sabji for having standardized their names) as those threads are the source of useful information about the origin of the swap plants and we don't want the additional confusion to have to remember that in fall, but not spring, 2018 that was not the case.

Alas, I won't be able to come to this swap either as I cannot take off from work! I don't have much to bring anyway as I lost a lot of plants in the spring. Lost everything in pots thanks to rain, late freeze in April, lots more rain, really late freeze in early May. Surprisingly the only thing that made it was a little Echinacea.

I have lots of tropical plants I could offer in exchange - several varieties of Jamsine Sambac, cestrum nocturnum, etc. I also have several roses and perennials as well as seeds of several annuals.

sadly, we won't be there this year. We have a family wedding to go to that day. enjoy!

I only have the confederate, Carolina and one that is variegated with a really pretty yellow color and with green spots like you sprayed with green paint. So I'll take anything else.

Would be nice to be hardy but if you have something really cool I'll take something tropical...

My Jasmines are all tropical. I have rooted plants of rand Duke of Tuscany and Arabian Jamsine. Also the night blooming cestrum nocturnum which has amazing fragrance after dark. I have rooted cuttings of Mardi Gras rose and Peach drift rose. I can bring cuttings of Radio Red and Hot Lips salvia, Caryopteris Dark Knight, Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon, Pearl Glam Beautyberry, seeds of Purple flash pepper, sangria pepper, cuttings of holy basil, seeds of Queen sofia marigold (these self seed for me and are beautiful and profuse), cuttings of Hansa rose, Felicia rose, Major Wheeler honeysuckle, etc, etc.. I have so many plants!

nchomegarden, I found your trade list - I think I could get a division from Alllium Millenium, if you'd be willing to trade that for the rose cuttings. My clump isn't all that big yet, so the division would be on the small side but I think it would establish well. Or if you want to stick to roses, I could bring you a cutting of Pink Pet, which depending on what internet site I'm reading may or may not be the same as Caldwell Pink.

Houseplants are around too, though majority of things in general swap will be yard plants.

The Alpina is hardy for me. I am a little warmer than Raleigh here in the Sandhills but it did survive our very cold winter last year. I’ve a nice good sized established clump so I would get it into the ground ASAP and you should have good luck.

nchomegarden, I'll bring you a Japanese woodland sage (I believe it is Salvia koyamae, but not 100% sure on the specific species, flower is yellow and a shade plant), and a cast iron plant "Leopard" (narrow speckly leaves), that sound fine? I'll continue this conversation on other thread :)

Thanks Triangle John for organizing this event. As always, I ended up with better than I brought. Most items have been planted though the mosquitoes were fierce while doing this task. And since the items are planted, it looks like it won't rain.

i missed it :-(
