I may not have had enough coffee today : ) . Would you be able to make a quick sketch of the room layout, both for the entrance and the kitchen area? Include the sofa and other furniture, doorways, windows, and approx measurements. I think that would be helpful for anyone offering suggestions.

What sort of storage do you need for your entryway? For how many people? What sort of climate? What is to the right of the door, with that wall with the TV on the other side?

Where are you going to put your table and chairs for dining?

entry way to function how- visually or functional? Decide what you need, not what you want. My need is a place for shoes, keys, mail, place for coats, seating. Hall tree may provide, but they are usually Victorian in design, not at all conducive with your furniture. Separate pieces would work, to the R coming in the door, less than 3 ft? a framed tall skinny mirror (top to go beyond the door frame) above a table with tall lamp, 2 open shelves with baskets (or rectangle containers in a print) to hold what is usually dumped. Your DR light can be mounted higher, remove the chain & fold up the wiring, although it will be an odd space to deal with.

If it were our design it might be nice to create a little mudroom design on the left side of the door. You could get a small bench and place hooks above for hanging things like jackets and such. Then place shoes under the bench. Then on the wall directly across from the door you could put a console table with a mirror hanging above it. This way you have all the components you need.

Consider a long very low console under the window. Add a pair of tall buffet lamps and floor to ceiling curtains on a one inch diameter decorative rod. Have drawers for storage in the console to control clutter; one for hubs and one for you. If there is no closet buy a sleek frosted glass and steel wall cabinet from IKEA and put it on the wall opposite the entry door.....add a pretty runner in the strip of flooring that is shown.

Another area rug under the sofa, a lounge chair, low end tables for stuff, and a very large piece of art over the sofa with the art being within 5 -- 10 inches between the sofa top to the art bottom.
