Marble Tile Madness

last modified: 8 years ago

Our grey ceramic floors are showing signs of age and will be replaced with white marble porcelain tile.

However, I have not decided which style of white marble would fit the space the best.

All the examples are porcelain tile, and are about the same price.

I'd like to make the space feel polished and high-end, similar to the rooms in these photos:

I have 3 tile options:

Option 1:

Above is option 1, Kalasus White Polished. It has an interesting vein with lots of directionality. The images show two possible configurations of the vein placement. It is the most contemporary/transitional style of the three.

Option 2:

Carrara marble has less prominent veining than Kolasus. It is, of the three, the most common and most traditional species.

Above is a comparison between Kolasus and Carrara.

Option 3:

This is the third option, Calacatta White. Traditionally, Calacatta is a rarer stone and therefore a more luxurious material. It has higher contrast, and I'm not sure whether or not it would work with the space.

Also, I'm not sure what the grout color should be.

Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciate. Thanks!
