So, it's some common weed apparently, as I don't recall planting that at all.

It is a native species that is interesting and cute, for a weed. However, it is also listed as a noxious weed in some farming areas, as shown by the pink counties on this BONAP map.

I was curious to see the map, but there is a Server error clicking on the link. Maybe it is temporary. Just wanted to know since I leave some of them for the sulphur butterflies. They seem to prefer this to the wild Senna as hostplant.

Iris, just try googling bonap. Which wild senna species are you referring to? hebacarpa? Thats interesting about obtusifolia as a better host plant. I really like it already anyway.

Yes, that’s what I was referring to. I have two of them, about 5 feet tall each. Hardly a caterpillar on them. The other ones have a lot of them. Even a little one I have in a pot trying to decide what to do with it.
