aesthetically pleasing cosmetic solution for vent issue

Without going into the lengthy backstory, our new build construction has a minor issue with the stove vent as per the attached picture. We were 99 and 9/10 percent satisfied with every other facet of the build but this is a glitch that my eye is drawn to every time we come in the house. I do not want tile and drywall torn out to fix this minor problem and I'm looking for cosmetic solutions to deal with it. any input would be greatly appreciated.

No one can tell what you talking about with such a close up picture. Pull back.

Are you talking about the bottom right hand corner of chimney?

The hood vent duct cover isn't perfectly fitted on the right?

I'm sorry, I thought it was so obvious! Yes, the stack on the right hand side does not fit evenly down into the vent. I am just looking for suggestions for a remedy that will not require dismantling everything. I am also attaching a close-up so everyone can see my issue.

Aluminum foil, strategically placed. A dab of caulk. It’s all but invisible now. It will be sure enough invisible then.

Who installed the hood? You? A general contractor? An appliance store's delivery service?

Why does it not fit? Is it a manufacturing defect? Is there something in the way that prevents it from being attached correctly?

What makes it so difficult to temporarily remove the hood, fix the issue, and then place it back onto the wall?

Without knowing the answers to any of these questions, I say: call your contractor back and have them figure out how to fix it. I don't see what the problem with that is, unless you give us additional information about complications that we are not aware of.

That is so TACKY and sloppy, needs to be redone ASAP and at their expense. Whoever did this bent the SS duct cover (see left mark in pic). He mismeasured and that is why duct cover doesn’t fit properly into canopy (see mark on right)

they need another duct cover, measure CAREFULLy and reinstall. There shouldn’t be any reason the mess up tiles, wall, etc.

This is a very sloppy job that you should not accept. my husband did ours and this is not his profession. This was a case of somebody being sloppy, clumsy and in a hurry. Do not accept.

Unless ventilation doesn’t work (and that is another problem altogether), what your installer did was mess up the duct vent cover. See pic. Easy to install, easy to get another, easy to do it right. I don’t understand why yours looks so bad, b/c is pretty straightforward to do it right, unless you got a slob or somebody impaired. Granted, the vent hood in pic I have posted is smaller than yours, but concept is pretty much the same, regardless of size.

yeah - someone cut that and boogered it up at the bottom. Either buy the right piece and replace, or if it's a strange height, you can get al local sheetmetal shop to bend one up. We did ours, as well - no way that gap should be there. With metal - trying to fix it can cause more obvious creasing and bending, I am afraid to say.

or - try some of the fixes that don't involve bending....
