There is nothing serene about 5k cheap floating toys and no pool surface. Lounges would have been nicer than chairs and anymore help would require pics of the pool area from further back

Cool, Alison. I wish our lot was fenced. Fencing is moving up to the top of the to-do list so we can get one of those simple intex type pools. My kids have been going crazy not being able to play outside--thank goodness for camp this week!

Yes I have found in my parenting life thus far that not only do fences make good neighbours they make good parents who can send their kids outside contained. :)

Even if it is a joke...IMHO...I don't get this. Seems like a nice enough pool (but I personally prefer a "clean straight lines" look), but the cheap toys and cheap furniture ruin the overall effect. There is a reason you never see inflatables in Houzz photos...and plastic Adirondacks...seriously?

thats really true, alison. our pool looks a lot different now that we're empty nesters. once the grand kids get old enough to be free swimming i expect we'll be back to float city.

no before photo from when our kids were middle schoolers... just an after of our dull boring quiet straight lines empty nester pool.

looking forward to the grandkids in it... sigh.

A few things...
1. The toys are just fun... and one cool thing about inflatables; they are NOT a permanent installation.

2. Re Straight lines or curves...we all like different things and that’s pretty great.

3. Passing judgement on the furniture quality is ridiculous. Our plastic adirondacks were selected as the perfect chairs for use under the umbrella on the pool’s sun shelf. But even if they were not for a specific purpose, why judge at all? A pool and surrounding hardscape installation is pricey and if a family finds that their budget requires cutting costs in an area like, say, “furnishings”, then they will make the decisions that best suits the needs of the family. So yes, we like our reasonably priced lime green zero-gravity loungers and our bright blue adirondacks (and our many inflatables!). Now we can sit together and enjoy the outdoors...and each other's company! They make us smile...mission accomplished!

I just clicked on Melli's profile to see if he had previously posted other snarky comments, or if this was an isolated incident. I was intrigued to see that Melli's ONLY other comments on Houzz were on dpatu's other posts. Weird, right?

Then I realized that Melli's only previous post featured an image of the front of his house, which corresponds exactly to an image dpatu posted of the back of HIS house.

So, it would seem these two posters are one and the same person, just causing drama?

It never ceases to amaze me what people do with their spare time!

At any rate, the pool area of Melli's/dpatu's home is lovely and inviting, especially considering the current heat here in TX! I'd be happy to attend a pool party here any day, and would be delighted to find out which Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde version of the host opened the door!
