There seems to be more to the room than we are seeing...like to the right in the pictures. That said, you are correct it is blah..but a great start. The rug is too small for the area, and not enough punch. Notice you have no large print anywhere. That could be in the rug..large print..lots of color to work from. Can only see a portion of a window..but you have no drapery. One picture on each wall is too small and boring. Maybe a pair of large somethings on one wall and a large grouping on the other. Maybe a more vibrant color on the wall if not on the rug. Overlay some of your pillows instead of a "display". But we still need to see the whole room. Too many small items on the tables. Lamps, sofas, end tables are great, but the matchy matchy coffee table is boring. Great start.
