My only concern is that if they don't stick around for the long haul, when your appliances start to go, you're going to have to replace them all if you want to keep them matching.

I really like the look of them, but the color varies so much from brand to brand. I didn't want all one brand, so I passed on them. Also it really limits your choices

Lots of threads here on these black stainless appliances. Every thread has contained a warning that the black finish is just a cheap coating that will scratch easily. And, when there is such a rush on a finish like this--seriously, seems like there is a new thread every hour asking about it--that is usually a sign of a flash in the pan.

I agree with your thinking. Stick with regular stainless.

Really bad idea. You will be sorry with the first scratch- to say nothing of what to do when replacement time comes.

Go look at the floor samples...most have scratches. Every salesperson told us to run from them as they all scratch and there is no fix for it.

We ended up going with slate to get something a little different from stainless but that's all personal preference!

A few reasons why I personally don't like them or recommend them in my projects

-The "black SS" finish scratches off

-If it doesn't stick around you won't' be able to replace them in a few years

-The colors aren't as close a match across brands whereas SS is pretty consistent.

-They create dark black holes. SS is a neutral, they blend in a compliment any style

-People really like SS. If and when you go to sell, buyers probably won't like that you don't have SS

There is no black stainless steel. The black must be a finish.

Stick with plain old stainless it has stood the test of time.
