I think removing that fence will make it look like less of the main entrance in the front. Perhaps it can be moved to the desired entry area.

What’s wrong with the front door?

Can you take down the awning and make the front door into a window? Otherwise, it will be hard for people to go to the side. If not that, then I would take down the awning for sure and then put a sign on the door with an arrow to the left.

Inclose the yard with no entry points except from the door leading into the house.

Latfiloa, nothing wrong with the front door, it’s just that the side door has better flow.

Erinsean, there are only 2 doors, front and side. We can’t close it off because we may need it as an emergency escape. Looking for ways to downplay the front door and accentuate the side entrance. Removing the awning could help.

I neglected to mention that the walkways to both doors run parallel to each other, about 20’ apart.

It looks like the front door opens directly into the living room. Why is that a poor flow?

I think if you change the fence so that it doesn't accentuate the front entrance, actually bars it, you'll get what you want. Make the fence flush across the whole front of the yard. Install a gate to the front door path, but lock it. Or don't have any break in the fence and and plant behind the fence. Install an arbor to the side door path entrance. Take off the awning to the front door. You might still need a sign to use the side door, because people think that is where they should go.

Move the white picket fence to the other entrance area. Add lighting to the new entrance and the pathway.

Paint the old front door the same color as the brick so it blends in. Remove the awning, too. Put a finger-pointing sign on the old front door that says "entrance".

A primitive attempt! Here’s a photo with fencing being re-used to make the fence straight across the front, and using one section over by the other sidewalk leading to the entry you want everyone to use. Obviously, the section on the left isn’t drawn far enough over, but visualizing it helps a bit. Also, no awning.

Maybe use lighting for night visitors and a colourful garland during the day

or crime scene tape.

Just redo the fence so it is solid across the front and make people walk past the side door to get to the front door. Decorate around the side door to highlight it as your main entrance. Put a large No Soliciting sign on the front door then you don't have to feel guilty for not answering it when the doorbell rings. If your mail is delivered to the front door, you may need to check with the post office to see if the mailbox can be moved to the other door.

Remove the walkway to the front door and get rid of the awning. Paint the door and surrounding trim black (or the darkest color from the brick) and plant a tree where the gate is to block entry. Remove the entire fence. Build a pergola/arbor over the walkway that leads to the side door.

Simple latched gate with Entrance and pointing finger and tell your mail carrier that the mailbox is being moved...be sure to do both on the same day. Letter Carriers are pretty flexible when treated with respect.
