I love the floor! The first two pictures I am loving the space. Without reading your full text and looking at the pictures, my thought was that chest did not fit it the space. I'm not sure that it is the wood however, it may just be the more traditional style.

My initial thoughts for tables were something darker to coordinate with the legs on the chairs and stools. It's hard to say without seeing the permanent sofa set. Also adding area rugs it will break up the floor and help to separate the different areas, and ground the furniture.

That is a very unfortunate choice in flooring. Yes, you are going to need to watch how much wood you put in that space against such a busy wood floor. I would get an area rug for under the dining table and for under the couch and coffee table in the living room. And then I would use another finish for the coffee table other than wood, get a metal table with a glass top to try and soften all of that hardscape wood and rock you have going on.

I love the floor! And I don’t think it’s a bad choice at all! I would say choose wood pieces that offer a nice contrast with the flooring you chose. Matching to the island wood wouldn’t be a bad idea. You could also consider lighter wood, like the lighter tones in your floor. You have lots of options. :)

Hi Rob, you have a great space and a great start, love the floor and the modern minimalist, I don't see the chest in the foyer fitting in, down,t marry well. Glass or metal piece would work better. Often I love to mix lots of woods, that would be more eclectic boho, or country, just not to befitting your place. The floor is your show stopper. Keep it simple, looks great !! We have this floor in our current townhouse and have LOVED it! It is art and everyone that sees it also loves it. I think some floor rugs are what’s needed here. Will help to break up the space and soften. This floor never showed dirt or footprints.

I wanted acacia in condo we’re moving to but sadly husband wouldn’t go for it as wanted something different.

Here’s a pic and we put it through the entire house. It never felt like too much wood. It was the showpiece.

from what I am seeing in the photos you posted you currently have a more modern dining set and an industrial light fixture- my concern is adding a chocolate brown reclining set to the mix. I know I have not seen a photo, but I have never seen a reclining sofa that does not look traditional and a bit chunky in style, which I do not think flows with the rest of the space. I do recommend you go with an area rug to anchor the new sofa and coffee and end tables. I cannot tell you if you should get glass or wood because I would need to see the sofa and furniture first, but purchase an area rug that is large enough to put under the front feet of all of the furniture in the family room.

I've taken out the items that don't work in your foyer and here are some suggestions of items that will work. Metal is a good option to minimize the different woods.

You've done a really great job so far, but what are you going to do with the stone on that fireplace. Everything looks so new and the FP stone looks retro and it doesn't work with the wood floor.

I think you could use more wood if you want it, as long as:

1) It matches one of the colors already in the flooring; and

2) It has very little color variation or pronounced grain of its own.

You could, for example, do accent table in a blond maple, and I think you could pull it off. But metal and glass are safe choices in this situation.

I would not put brown sofas in that room, it will be too much of that color.

Do you have a photo of the recliner set? Those sets tend to be big and bulky and might be too heavy looking with your otherwise contemporary dining set. Be careful of using a coffee table in front of a reclining sofa. I like the style of your current sofa. It works well in your room.

I would not worry about wood tones as long as they are in the general tones found in the floor--not anything maroonish for example-- but I would not use brown upholstery.

Beautiful space, I agree that floors look really nice. The challenge now is selecting right wood and not too much wood. Maple buffet no for sure. I think you need more modern furniture to match the rest of place. I would also stop with black metal, and replace that wall piece with nice art.

I really like the floors. I think they can lean in different directions.

You can do more wood but you need to be careful about not adding more busy grain, and not fighting then tones in floors. Don’t do a redder cherry for example.

I have not seen it but I am going to take a not totally unfounded guess the “chocolate brown leather recliner set” will be really heavy in that space and may limit your furniture arrangement, and won’t fit with that modern-industrial vibe if that is what you want to stick with. Please rethink that one.
