Hey having. Remember me? Been a long time. Drop in once in a while just to snoop but couldn’t pass up the chance to say hey when I received the email re the new “Would you live here?” and realized that’s my house! Should I be offended?
Ha ha. Just kidding but I could live here if I changed out, well just about everything.

Well, it's not how I would have decorated it, but I think I could live with the fixed elements. I wonder if the placement of the high-up artwork makes more sense when viewed from the catwalk (I think that's a catwalk). The belly band could be minimized with different paint. Right now the gray seems to be fighting with the living room furniture colors. I like the exuberant ottoman, just not with the rest of the room.

It's a matter of personal taste and this would not be my choice.

First, because heat rises -- summer and winter -- I'd not want the open ceilings or any two story rooms -- and/or the upper floor art in the two-story rooms -- big nope.

That "loud" colored -- red plaid -- ottoman would need to go … but the rug with red could stay.

Would not want any indoor ceiling color not white.

I'd not choose to build a sunken living room -- the step down from living to dining or is a stumble hazard.

The sliding barn door with the look of scrap lumber doesn't fit the rest of the décor.

That four color wall -- appears to be dark gray w/off white stripes and white baseboard with two rows of ?wood? ?horizontal boards? -- that along with whole lot of art -- appears to be intended to bring to mind some tacky golden age vibe that would not appeal to me.

Would rethink most of the art.

Would also remove the horizontal boards from that multicolored wall and repaint it the same color as the rest of the wall.

Would want to change the dining room lighting.

Not a fan of any of the three lamps - prefer all tall thin ones with larger white shades.

Not a fan of open shelving or the stuff on it.

That said, live here as opposed to what alternative? I've lived in worse -- for a few years, I lived in a 12'x48' mobile home from which I immediately began ripping that faux golden age era stuff off the walls.

Hmm, I’m afraid this one isn’t for me. I just feel there are too many things going on here. Colors, patterns, heights, textures and styles that just don’t go together in my view. Maybe I could salvage some of these elements into something more livable... ??

It looks like a lovely home, does need some tweaking, the barn door has thrown me. Among us all, shouldn't be a hard task

Looks to me like they took a bit of this and added a splash of that out of the "On trend" design book, I.e. gray,color ceiling,open shelving, wood floor with area rugs, barn door.

Don't tell Steve, but this would be a deal breaker for me.............: (

Yes, once all the furnishings were gone and I could paint everything white and start fresh :)

I like the space itself - including the two story living room and loft space - just not how it is furnished but that is no different than buying any other house on resale market - furnishings are to owners taste, not mine.

Definitely would want to remodel the kitchen: the country or farmhouse-y look is not for me. That bathroom is...quirky. I would not want to be one cleaning the corrugated steel and wood paneling and such, so that would need to change too!

Not my taste, but I love visiting houses similar to this. A few of my friends are VERY creative ( & quirky ) , I love visiting their homes. It always brings a smile to my face when I see some of the things in their homes ... & their homes are much more interesting ( even though the opposite of my understated style) than the generically decorated homes I see everywhere.

urban/modern dining room with rustic/casual living space -- I think I'd change the feel of the latter, but otherwise, I could live with it.

The strangest thing for me is the incongruity between the outside and the inside. Feels a lot like some stager got ahold of this- really? An all white dining area? Very few people live like that, No idea though, except to say that I'd question the exterior first, and get rid of all inside. Unless it were free. Then sure- I could live there. :)

Please, please don't buy modern architecture and fill it with rustic / traditional furnishings. Please...with sugar on top.

It’s because it’s so many different styles. It’s jarring. The cozy country plaid ottomans, playful stripe, minimal shelves, contemporary upholstered dining chairs, rococo side table.

I don't think there's anything there that jives w/what I like. Plus, there's no T-rex, so...

Actually the house itself is pretty dull and unremarkable architecturally underneath the quirky decor. It's a relatively inexpensive house for Bel Air. (not that I could afford it). I'd pass, all around.

but i have learned from the comments and that is often what it is about.

The house is owned by a comedian makes me think it is all a bizarre joke.

I'd prefer not too. I like a lot more symmetry. I'd adjust everything on the walls from the art to the weird gray wall with the trimmed out stripe. The art and the way it's arranged above the sofa very much bothers me.

The house itself is fine, but all the furniture would have to go - IMO.

But it would be a fun project. :)
