Consumer Reports' recommended compact vented dryers are the Samsung DV22K6800EW and GE DCVH480EKWW. The owners' reviews for the Samsung on Home Depot website are poor; better at Best Buy, though. The owners' reviews for the GE on Home Depot and Sears websites are pretty good.

I have the 2017 GE vented Compact dryer Lawrence mentions. No complaints, it dries very fast. A GE spokesperson told me that they use the same element in all their electric dryers. The matching washer too is very good. No complaints. Bought them from Home Depot on sale for $899 each.

If I didn’t get such a great deal on my Bosch 800 set, I was going to get the GE. I have a regular Samsung set upstairs and it seems just fine, but people complain about my set too. I would get a vented dryer over a condensing one, but the Bosch drains into the washing machine drain and you can’t separate the pair since the washer actually plugs into the dryer plug. I know, fortunately my husband’s an electrician so it didn’t phase him, but take your current wiring into account as some of these imported sets have weird set ups.

If this is your first compact, be aware that if your running a full load in your washer you may want to split the dryer load in two to facilitate faster drying. The clothes need to tumble freely and that can't happen when it's packed full. This is especially important with towels.
