I'm not a professional, but I just don't see how this furniture is going to fit in with your industrial/contemporary style. At the very least, I'd take out the corner cupboard and get a good piece of art over the buffet; a mirror would only be reflecting the opposite wall. Sorry, I can't be of any more help, looks like you have a lovely home.

Make this room more eclectic. Find a really funky wallpaper and paper the upper half of the wall. This is a neat one.

You could do this one one wall:Would it be OK to paint the furniture? Maybe paint the base of the buffet black and leave the top wood, paint the base and legs of the table black and leave the surface wood, paint the cabinet black and leave the drawers wood. Something like that.

You got some great suggestions for adding more modern art above the sideboard and a cool wallpaper- love the Queen of Spain pattern from Schumacher on top.

I would look into slip covering the chairs.

Fabulous wallpaper and new upholstered fabric on the chair seats. The fabulous wallpaper needs to be the dominant feature in the room because the modern chandelier has nothing to do with the traditional dining set. Look at https://www.anthropologie.com/wallpaper to see how they use color and pattern with various furnishings.

Are you flexible on changing the chandelier, perhaps moving it to another location?

You need colorful artwork and some draperies. Move the corner cabinet to another room.

Find an area rug for the dining room in Mid Century Modern and take it from there with the colors of the room, the fabric on the chairs, etc.

I agree that the cabinet should if possible be taken out. For an eclectic look buy a modern rug and modern artwork for this room. Instead of the expected mirror use art; the inspiration mirror you show seems trendy and may soon be out of style.

I agree with houssaon and apple_pie_order -- use dramatic wallpaper. Probably you won't get to look midcentury modern but you can modernize a bit. Also agree to remove the corner cabinet. Here's a couple of examples from Emily Henderson's blog. Definitely put up curtains and although I am not a fan of rugs under dining tables, I think a light-colored rug will provide a nice contrast with the dark furniture. A wider buffet table may be better if that is in the budget.

Oh honey, this is a great space !! Lots to do here, great paper is fun, great paint colors will help tremendously! A couple chairs flanking the buffet, candle sconces or tall narrow table lamps, a large mirror or piece of art, fabulous rug, and of course window treatment floor to ceiling and for more drama you can go wall to wall with them to soften the space. I like Beverly;s idea to place chairs on a side of buffet.

Not offense, but 3 geometric shapes is too much with panels, etc... Bev has it with candle sconces and chairs - yeah!! ? Imo, no wallpaper, not even subtle.... unless you remove an item to de-crowd.

Congratulations you have a duncan phyffe style sideboard. I have one too! I am going to paint it black, to "modernize" it a bit.
