Hmm this IS a challenge considering the shape of your space and all the big pieces of furniture in it. I think you've probably placed the television in the only feasible location if you're firm on not wanting to place it above your fireplace. Perhaps this room would be best without a fireplace at all? Maybe it could serve as a dining room instead, considering its proximity to the kitchen? Just an idea. You may want to pose your question on Reddit.com and Stuccco.com to get more people to weigh in. Is that one wall open the length of the room? I think I would place the couch in front of the fireplace, pull love seat up in a L, away from the wall. Get rid of the velvet couch. OR get rid of the leather furniture, put the velvet couch in front of the Fireplace and Pick up 2 chairs.

There's too much big furniture in the space. I would keep one sofa and sell the rest of the seating. The coffee table is too large even for the over stuffed sofas. It should be level with the seats, or 1-2" below them, and 1/2 - 2/3 the width of the sofa. You could place a sofa perpendicular to the FP facing the TV and add a sofa table behind it or a game/snack table and chairs. Two swivel chairs on the other side of the FP could turn to watch TV or converse. A round coffee table centered on the FP firebox and 18" from the seats will look better.

Add colorful, interesting art 5" above the mantel. Keep the width of it within the size of the firebox opening. People will see the art and not so much the FP.
