Which bed placement do you like best?

This is for a guest bedroom for an AirBnB, it's likely that I will have a mix of both single guests and couples.

Option 1 - corner, bed away from wall

Pros: provides space for both people to get out of the side of the bed

Cons: not enough space on left side for a side table, right side may be awkward side table placement because of radiator

Option 2 - corner, bed against wall

Pros: gives much more space to the room

Cons: person against wall must enter and exit from the foot of the bed

Option 3 - bed lengthwise across room

Pros: could put side tables on both sides

Cons: reduces free space in room considerably

I definitely prefer #3. I really don't like a bed tight up against a wall and a bed without a nightstand on both sides. I'd give up a bit of space for adequate end table and lighting to read. Also it's so much easier to make the bed when you can walk around it.

Another vote for option 3. If your heating is hot water, not steam, I would consider building a radiator cover level with and the same width as the window sill which could function as a side table.

But if your vote is option 3, the bed wouldn't be anywhere near the radiator...?

Options 3, but can the location of the window AC unit be moved? It might be too noisy so close to the bed.

Yep, that's not a problem at all. AC is going away soon anyway as we've had a mild summer here in Pittsburgh.

I said side table, not nightstand. My thinking is the radiator cover or shelf would be a useful item that would not take up any additional floor space in the small room. Plus, covered radiators are easier to keep clean than open ones as people won't put something on the window sill and accidentally knock it off onto the radiator...just a practical way to dress up the space. Yes, it could function as a night stand if you decided to rearrange the room in the future

I agree that #3 is the best option. Plenty of room for both people to move around the bed. Option #3.

When you bring the A/C unit back, can it be installed in the window over the radiator, since you will not be using them both at the same time?

As a guest, I'd rather see a bed placed in the corned. That puts you opposite the door for restful and secure sleep. I'd like to see some window treatments and sconces on the two walls. You need a large cozy rug pulled under the bottom 1/3 of the bed to make it soft and inviting.

Measure it for the bed more than for the room. You want enough of it to extend past the sides so that toes can comfortably land on it as people rise from bed. At the bottom, at least as wide as the side exposures, if not a bit more.

I had a bed in the corner like decoenthusiaste suggested. I liked it. You could also put floor to ceiling curtains over the window without the radiator and then center the bed on that wall.

I vote 3. Beds in corners are hard to make. You should be able to walk comfortably around it. Most people will want a queen size bed. If planning an air b&b you really need a few things. 2 night tables with lamps. A desk can double as a bedside table. I hate places with only one since both my husband and I wear glasses it's nice to have a place to put them without asking a spouse to put them on a table for you. Supply a handy place to put a suitcase and a chair or bench. Travelers will live out of their suitcase. Giving them space in a closet and small drawer space though. A dresser just takes up room. This my guest room.
