char, I did all of my own oak doors and casing on our remodel. dye penetrates the wood a lot further than stain. since I wanted a deep black, I did the dye and then went over that with an oil stain. it's a beautiful black color. the dyes come in every shade, so if you wanted to do a medium walnut or light gray tone, you could. do you have any spare pieces of that wood for samples?

I use Lockwoods water soluble dye. you mix it w/hot water. brush it on and it's dry in 5 mins. this is what 2 coats looks like. going over it w/the ebony stain really deepens the black

if you have some sample wood, try using Varathane ro GF products. try a walnut mixed w/a weathered gray. see if that goes w/your wood. if you want to leave it that natural color, then maybe just try one of the Penofin sample tubes (i get them at the lumbyard. one tube did my entire french door) in a slightly tinted finish.

needs to be oiled or something. a more warmer, cedar type of color would look stunning against the black

A light natural stain....the timbers are the only accents out front and they lead visitors to the door. I would consider painting the door to match the siding. I’m not excited about the pink chairs...not in a good way. They may grow on me because of the pink flowers.

What brand and color stain and what type of timber was the wood?

hi Nicole. the wood is pine. the stain is a benjamin moore teak. i will check the exact stain when i get home.

stain is Benjamin Moore- Arborcoat - eaterborne exteriorr stain - translucent - teak - K623- 30.
