I've noticed most folks here gravitate toward Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams, and I am one of them. Both are very good. Their adhesion is good, and they hold up over time. The builder of my home used SW, and 18 years later, I have left over paint for touchups that's still viable. Personally I usually go with BM, but sometimes comparison shop at SW. You asked about brands but not finishes. Generally, flat is used for walls and ceilings, except for baths, where a higher sheen paint is usually used for scrubability. The paint pros at the stores should be able to give you the right advice.
