Beautiful. There is one that hangs around my neighbor’s yard where I get a good view, and I once saw him swoop down from her tree and come up with a mouse or vole. Haven’t seen him lately. I believe it is also a Coopers hawk. It’s quite large.

Love it when he airs out his wings.

It's a great video, but I'm with gyr_falcon. Definitely not a Cooper's Hawk - maybe a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk? The tail is way too short for an accipiter.

Our neighbor thought it was a Coopers, but after looking them up, I believe our hawk is a red-tailed. I think it’s too large to be a Coopers. Several websites state that the Coopers is about the size of a crow, but ours is much larger than that.

Very nice. Yes, I'd say red-tailed. The chest feather pattern and tail width stick out the most.

Red Tails are very common in CT. I always try to see a hawk in flight so I can get a pretty good idea of what kind of hawk it is. Red tails of course have red tails and are very easy to see in flight.
