The stack of two tin flower vases and a cake pan represents the size of the crystal chandelier roughly.

Look at a 30" chandelier. The size you have selected is for pendants over an island, not a dining table.

Adding that I actually like the one you have in there now. Any particular reason you're changing it?

Agree with Beverly above. Go bigger. This is one subject I can talk about from experience. I've changed the lighting in my dining room 3 times within a year, spent a great deal of money and time on it, and I'm STILL not totally satisfied :(
We have an open layout, so we had to consider different elements when making our selection. You have a beautiful, formal dining area with a neutral color scheme. In your case the chandelier should make a statement, not fade away with the rest of the room. Go bigger!

IMo that chandaleir would be better in a stairwell and larger less long one would be better above the table.

Thanks everyone. I really need wanted to stay under a $400 budget, and sadly anything bigger will blow that. :-( I'd like to change current chandelier because a) I wanted to bring in some bronze and then tie it in with a bronze curtain rod, and b) the current chandelier is part of a set of two, the other which I replaced already. Lastly, and I don't know if this makes sense or not, but the current chandelier seems too tall. I do like the width, but it seems to overwhelm the room--and not in a good way!

Beverly, I do like the picture you posted. i wish I could afford it!

I have a fairly open floor plan and would like to complement these chandeliers.

I'm not sure you can expect crystal for less than this price above.

This fixture above is $399, but it's a gold finish

I've seen this in person and it's so stunning. The best orb fixture I've seen.

ac74 keep an eye on Lamps Plus. They have daily sales, clearances, and the Open Box option which offers products that were never installed but the box was opened. You can get some decent deals through this site.
