Marilyn Monroe flowers like that, but the leaf is the wrong shape. MM also fries in too much sun.

There are quite a few hybrids (especially after 2000) with lax bloom scapes like this. Is this one green all year? or is it yellow in spring? Made me think of Shimmy Shake or Frisian Pride, but neither is right. Everything I'm thinking of seems to have wavy edges (like Marilyn Monroe, above).

Does anyone else think it may have Montana-like leaves? I'm not saying it is that as I really don't know...the long, pointed leaves make me think it may have Montana heritage.

Shimmy Shake and Frisian Pride weren't for sale there. I agree it looks to have Montana heritage and I have been OBSESSED with Montana anything from day one. I am not 100% sure if I purchased this one or if my friend did. When she moved to Hawaii, I dug up all of her hosta for my yard so I'm not sure if this was hers or mine. I do know that it is a name that I know (if that makes sense...ie why it isn't Shimmy or Frisian)

OK yes...all green. 7 years ago in Spring. Bottom right corner. Very Montana or something w/ the looong pointed leaves.

More likely of H. kikutii heritage than H. montana, based on bloom time and form. Vein count (about 10?) isn't high enough to have montana blood (like 'Stingray'). And I'm guessing no white leaf backs, even in spring?

pycnophylla or seedling from it

DTeager - leaf backs are pictured above...they are whiter than the front, for sure.

hosta_maker...this is a named variety rather than just a rogue seedling (or do you mean seedling that is in the trade?).

yes from that line, i have pycnophylla and tequilla sunrise that flower and scape looks to be from that line. tequilla are darker. pycnophylla is about that color.

do the pets have specs of reddish purple?

Reminds me of Cutting Edge when young but the older pic is puzzling me. Also Maekawa-ish. Ugh. lol

The lesson: KEEP RECORDS. Especially with hostas that aren't immediately obvious.

The lesson is very learned, believe me, life happened...what can I say?

Noticed that all new leaves have curly tips today. Oh well… I will figure it out someday.

when they perfected storing pollen ... and then crossing all these plain old green plants ... they sorta lost my interest ..... it was probably part of the reason i started losing interest in collecting ... just how many 50 to 100 dollar rather boring.. NAMED .. green plants can make your toes tingle ...

and why inn the heck did they have to name them all .... and dont get me going on all the green ones.. with varying amounts of red dots on the petioles ... bah.. and pshaw ...

just how exciting can it be to cross late spring pollen onto a late fall flowering hosta ... dude.. dudette .... quit messin around with hosta procreation ... i would suggest you get a new hobby... but look what happened when they found this hobby ... rotflmbo ...

to sum it up.. imo.. one in a million of these fit within the 10 foot rule .... so dont ask me what they are ...

Had to google that one. I too had life interfere with my hostas collection and lost few names. Am taking Ken's suggestions to the heart though, garden is so much better with 10 footers.

hosta_maker...that was the clue. The pycnophylla flowering habit. I went to the HL and went through the list of "kids". VOILA!
