Dear lord if these are your cats (inside or out) they need to be spayed and neutered. Call a local rescue group in your area to assist with this if need be.

Offer her a better shelter close by--perhaps a cardboard box with an old towel in it and then capture them both if she uses it. It does somewhat depend on how tame the mom cat is...

You might put a tarp over the wood pile and weight it down with bricks or pieces of wood. If she is an outside cat, and particularly if this is her first litter, it is a good idea not to disturb her any more than necessary.

Is the female feral or tame? If she's feral and the wood stack is stable I would probably leave the kitten(s) for now and carefully place a tarp on top. If you start moving things around she may panic and either abandon, or move, the kitten.

If the mom is tame then you could try moving the logs but you'd have to be extremely careful. One shift of the logs and you could crush the kitten. Continue feeding the mom so she doesn't have to leave the kitten often.

Check online to see if your county or state offers discount coupons for spay and neuter. You'll be limited to certain vets but the discount can't be passed up.

Also, consider restacking the logs at some point. Up against the house is not a good location since it creates a breeding ground for insects and termites......and easy access to your home.

I have totes, sheds, and my breezeway (which mostly all of them sleep in....during the winter)all have blankets and pillows for her to use. Unfortunately its storming out now, and I was told to trust that she will bring him into the breezeway for dryness, warmth and safety.
