Overboard or over reaction ?

Completed a guest bath remodel. I wanted to add a little punch to the tub/shower walls with black and white tiles.

Did I go to far?

Overboard decission
Over reacting I'll get use to it

I would have done the side walls in a large format white tile but since it's a narrow shower, it's not as bad as it would have been with a huge shower. Don't put any other pattern in the room though.

I made a similar mistake using the same tile on the whole tub surround. Eh, it will grow on you. Plus since it's a tub/shower, you can always mask some of it with a simple solid white shower curtain. I think it looks nice.

A Big Thumbs Up to whomever framed & rocked the shower walls!!! Level & plumb are almost unheard of nowadays. He /she made the tile guy's job so much easier. And yes, I like your big, bold statement.

Thanks chiflipper my husband will be so happy his hard work was recognized. I think he is wonderful but it sure helps when someone confirms.

It's great, and it does look very well lined up. Husband should be proud of himself!

I think it looks fabulous but my current remodeled bathroom is the antithesis of a gray or beige or white subway tile ha ha.

I thought the Red Guard was part of the design - pops of red would be fun in terms of towels. I had a bedroom years ago which I did in black and white houndstooth check wallpaper with red curtains and bed linens.

Given the rest of the room is sedate, I think it works.

I like it. I would paint the other walls in a strong color in order to make the black and white tiles pop, but that is just me. I like quirky things :)

Framed with a double white shower curtain, so that it peeks out like a surprise, it works.

Framed behind glass doors where it’s an unavoidable dose of pattern, it’s a bit much unless you amp up the drama in the rest of the bath to match. Like black walls for the rest, and a white floor.

You cant go tame and bland with the rest and have it feel like anything but a mistake.

it's good. you're getting used to it))

it can be a bit dizzying for some(like me), because of sharper contrasts, but it does look good and works well with the rest of the space. it's pretty fab, actually

if when all said and done you find it a bit dizzying when in a tub..individual reaction..make sure you have a sitting surface when showering . they make some pretty ones for tubs. wait with other bold elements until you know how you react (if you planned on them.) in short make it as safe for yourself as much as it is beautiful.

I think the current wallcolor is a bit warm for the tile... these are pulled from the photos on the vanity wall

Agree with Sophie--use a white curtain and it will be great; use glass and it could be too much.
