What I see look okay to me. Your plant is Sanseveria trifasciata. Grows to 4 feet in time. If you want the smaller growing one (16") with fat leaves it is called futura.

The leaves are wrinkled. I guess it just turned on its survival mode to stay hydrated as long as possible. I was shocked since I live in Bay Area and it is roughly 55F to 75F here in the summer. Whenever I water the plant, it seems like the water just drain out from the bottom of the holes really fast. I will monitor more closely the next 2 month and keep you all updated. Thank you!

Sorry for my guess. In that case, I would keep a bucket under the pot and wait an hour or so then empty it out. That way you know the soil has a chance to soak up more of the water. Many peat mixes dries up so much that the next watering goes around it and out of the pot leaving almost no water for the roots to soak up.

If you move that stuff off the top of the soil's surface, is the soil hard to your touch?

Woodnative: seems I missed your comment on earlier reads, but I agree it sounds like the water is going around the rootball & not through it.

Thank you for all your feedbacks! It's been super helpful! I have a soil moisture meter and the soil is completely dry literally after 4-5 days. I double check with my finger and dig it in around 2cm and it is dry.

Thank you everyone for the feedbacks. I listened and I watered it more often. I even keep a bucket under the pot for 15-20 mins. I started to see result immediately since the leaves started to open up after 2 days. This is a picture I took today! Thanks again all!
