Pretty room. The sheers on the same rod prevent the closing of the drapery panels so if you want to close your panels, a double rod is recommended.

A double rod as mentioned above , I would have installed solar shades to control the light and give privacy during the day and just closed the drapes at night I like to see out my windows during the day and solar shades allow me to do that.

Optimally, you should use a double rod, with the sheers on the rod closer to the wall, and the main curtains on the outer rod. That's the right way to do it.

I never close the curtains at night just don't like how they look when closed we do have Hunter Douglas shades on all the windows the problem is there are terrible stained I am not sure how to clean them(the blind were here when we moved in) that's why I got the sheers. I open them in the morning but close them in the afternoon for sun control.Here are some pictures of the sheers open and the stains on the shades.

@Diana Bier that's what I thought too! I looked at some pictures on houzz and pinterest and saw that all the sheers were hung on separate rods that's why I wasn't sure. If I leave it the way it is is this a design no,no :) Thanks. That's the other window.
