What time of year did you do it? Did you keep the plant outside? Did you wrap it tightly enough? Was the rootstock bark slipping easily?

Is the rootstock compatible with the scion you wish to use?

Dave in NoVA Grafted 8 days ago. Watered both roots and cutting's plant. Cut the rootstock top by 1/3+.. Wrapped tightly. Held inside at 85F in north window, Ziplocked bag closed light block with aluminum foil. Place out side with total sun block at the graft area. Bark slipped very nicely.

Secret to citrus grafting is enclosing it to maintain high humidity, and keeping the temperature stable (warm but not too hot, which could cause it to dry out). For grafting, it's best to keep it in the shade the first four days, then partial shade for 3 or 4 weeks.

Steve, sorry your grafts didn't take! My Meiwa grafts also failed last year.

If you are using a scion 'stick', you need to wrap the entire stick with parafilm first, then re-cut the lower end and line up at least one cambium layer with your rootstock. Looks like your grafts are drying out. What are you using for tape?

You might have better luck with buds.

llucky_Cloud, I do mine outdoors as well. We've had a very humid summer. I still wrap all my bud grafts, but I'm sure that extra outdoor humidity helps a LOT.

Yep, I'm in NC and it's been so humid. I had a couple of air layers that I started on Aug 10th, and I didn't really check on them or water them. A few days ago I thought to check them and to my surprise they were full of roots. While the moss was rather dry, the roots looked very happy. I thought to myself "well of course, nothing fully dries out in this weather!"
