Gonna be a messy operation, but see the cute pup there (tricky to see green on green like that).

Potted in some strange sponge-peat like stuff.

Lost some bits of roots in the process, but unavoidable really.

Each plant has some scary looking discoloration at its base, looks like beginning of rot, but turns out to be discoloration, still firm & healthy.

Currently, they're out drying for a couple of days & I'll crumble off the last of that mix from the lower areas. Will post follow up when potted up.

Nice plants, hopefully just discolored from sitting on top of moist soil (maybe it is cocopeat?) If the leaves are soft (you sad they are not now), just remove them. I keep them all together, some have really too many pups and probably should be divided, or given much bigger pot :)

Well it took a while for me to get to it, brush off the last old mix stuck in the roots & examine the discoloration; still feels firm to the touch, but makes me nervous.

I did give a good sprinkle of CInnamon at the lower part of the plant, on the discolored parts, in hopes of staving off any rot 'til it re-establishes itself. Then I shook it to shake off the excess & potted it up dry in a very porous mix.

I had trimmed the bottom of the roots & would have normally left it out to dry more. But NYC went from heat wave last week to rainy N'oreaster in one week. I felt the need to get it potted up.

Temps went from mid 90s to mid 50s, crazy stuff. I'd appreciate any IDs. I'm thinking something like Green Ice (a Gasteraloe?) or Little Warty?

Any Gasteria lovers around to help w ID pls?

I've gotten pots from all kinds of places & folks over the years, I had to scramble around to find this one. Since it had been in a soggy setting, I wanted to put it into clay so it wouldn't possibly get too wet.

Don't recall what that mix is, I see it's pretty rocky. Sometimes I recycle mix among my succulents like Aloes, Sans. Haws & Gasteria. This could be that, likelier whatever I had on hand that looked super fast draining. I keep my mixes in old coffee cans, really just distinguishing btwn C&S mix for these & mix for my tropicals & Hoyas (that plus 1/3 bark component, a recent discovery). So I probably grabbed a can of whatever C&S mix I had left from something or other.

I purchased a Gasteria over the weekend as well! Though it is not as handsome as yours- your plant has great shape to it. Very pretty.

Do you think we have the same plant? It looks similar from most angles but the top view is different. I've been trying to ID mine- I think it's most likely a Gasteria carinata or Dwarf Gasteria.

I got mine at a local "garden center" for $4.50.
