My wife and I are having an argument that I hope could be settled here. We are in the process of finishing our basement in order to make the first floor a duplex (it's a two family home). The first floor has hardwood floors throughout and once the new slab is laid in the basement, our idea is to lay down porcelain faux wood tile. One idea is to have the stain on the first floor match the faux tile downstairs for continuity. Does this really matter? Would it be strange to have two different color floor coverings?
