Ceska Praci Cest? In Z6?

Hi all! Just wondering who is growing this beauty and what pearls of wisdom you might share. I'm especially interesting in hardiness, BS resistance and fragrance. Is it vigorous? I do NOT need anymore climbers as don't have room for those I have in pots yet, but they somehow appeal to me like no others.

Sorry for posting this in the Antiques Rose forum. I can't change it now. I somehow thought this was some European antique we couldn't get here but I'm mistaken.

Vap, I have never heard of such a rose. It is so new to me and it does sounds so European. I am hoping someone knows about it or seen it but better still grown it
Wishing you luck, my friend :)

They're selling it at Angel Gardens but I believe it comes from Europe so you might be able to get it! It looks like a beautiful climber just not a lot of information on it here stateside.

Oh thanks for the link, I was spelling it wrong, no wonder I couldn't find it..lol..

I see it's from 1970 so not a new one, and I've never known it to be available here in England... I do like the colour...

I do too, and the flower form, as well. The pictures on HMF are so pretty. It only has sporadic rebloom, but I have some spots where that would suffice until the trees fully leaf out. and allow a bit less sunlight. I'm imaging it with a white single such as Kiftsgate, Purezza, Francis Lester or even Sally Holmes climbing up the remains of a dead Elm to bloom with some lilacs. I think white and the more intense colours show up better from a distance and that's what I need for this spot. I'm planning on Betty Prior, The Fairy, The Tooth Fairy and perhaps a few of my Hybrid Musks to fill out the rest of the space. This area has luscious soil, I just need to cut out a volunteer tree and trim off a large limb on a mulberry.

..luscious soil... gosh lucky you... it sounds typical of the Ohio River Valley, not that I would know, but it just sounds that way...

I love Francis Lester... pity I never got any later blooms on it, otherwise I would have kept it...

Well, that elm tree has been dead for a while so all of the limbs were just piled around it and they've decomposed over the years to form an incredible compost. I've dug a lot of it out to use on my roses elsewhere but there's still plenty to provide a base for a new bed. At the moment it's just feeding the Wild Grape Vines and every other invasive thing. If the Roses do half as well as those things do they could go on the cover of a magazine! Lol! :-)

Hi, I'm in zone 6 and I grow it! Got mine from (I think) Heirloom. For me its a very good rose; VERY vigorous (in fact rampant) very healthy (no bs or anything, and I do get bs), beautiful and prolific fluffy pink flowers. No serious winter die back, and it roots itself easily (I have a hard time controlling its canes, so some of them spread on the ground and root). For me its pretty much a once-bloomer, which is ok, as its spring flush is spectacular. Its flush is late in the rose season, probably the latest of all my climbers, even after Super Dorothy; probably around the second week of June or something like that. Hope this helps!

Frances, I am thrilled to get your response, especially as we are in a similar growing zone with BS pressure, etc. I used to live in S.Jersey outside of Philly so I relate! How wonderful that it blooms later that others. I'm going to hold off this year as I already have roses coming to overwinter and need to order a few more from ARE in Nov. for Spring. I am stupid, but have a hard time paying for shipping on just a couple of roses. Please feel free to post any pics either to this thread or to HMF. I am sending you a pm.

What's your language? It appears to be one of the many Slavic languages. Could you post in English, please?

@Diane Brakefield Diane, I've already flagged it, but if you're still seeing it, it wouldn't hurt to flag it again.
