Yes. But I wasn’t impressed by the results. They produce brown mush and taste like gritty, slightly burnt apple sauce IMO. I still have the tree but I don’t bother to gather the fruit. Which is very unusual for me as I’m a cheapskate and use everything I can.

Cool! Something I've never even heard of before in all my years. Off to find out what medlars are and how one does "bletting"?

Bletting simply means leaving the fruit (after picking) until they begin to soften. Essentially they need to be verging on rotting to be edible. I have to confess I found the business a waste if time. Apparently they taste good with cream. But if a fruit needs several hundred fat calories to be edible what’s the point? Thanks floral. Those are really ugly fruit. Sort of a Little Shop of Horrors/Venus flytrap appearance. I'd rather have the clothespin. ;-)

In their favour, the flowers are pretty, like a larger version of apple blossom but pure white. And the autumn colour is a lovely butter yellow. Even the fruit look attractive to me, in quantity on the tree. They are russetted and glow golden in sunshine.
