Call local contractors and get estimates, prices you get here are useless and you cannot plan your project based on them.

For starters, do you want to remove 300 square feet of dirt through a small window? Or do you plan to knock a hole in the foundation? Where are you going to put that material? Or who is going to take it away? Without some way to get a small earth moving machine in there and the material you are removing out, this is manual labor. Some of it is manual labor even if you get some machinery in there. Then you need to redo the hole in the foundation and shore up the sides of your two foot deep hole. And you need an engineer to determine the best way to do it. We did something similar to this when we renovated our house. To make a long story short - it took forever and was ridiculously expensive. If we had a do-over, we wouldn’t even think about it. Put aside six or ten or twelve times your budget for golf vacations instead. It will be a lot more fun.

Thanks Shivece. I am waiting on an estimate. The contractor who came out made it seem like a simple job- just labor intensive indeed. It is shaping up to look like a lot more than what I was hoping for. Ill have to save up. But I want it so that I when I go on the golf vacations I am really good!
