Yes, pillows with the colors from your chairs would be perfect. Also some large art for that bare wal.

She sheds a lot!! Her hair is very light so light colored rugs tend to mask the shedding (but are risky for everything else). We don't have kids yet but that may change our rug choice in the future.

Any specific pillow suggestions? I can never seem to get the combos to look right in terms of mixing sizes, shapes, and textures.

Consider some tube shaped pillows for use as arm rests for your sofa.

For a large sectional like this I would suggest a larger carpet, and also a somewhat darker one to ground the light furniture and give the room a more layered, interesting appearance.

I think that logical scientific types can be great decorators. Even if you don't have a natural eye for it, a little bit of study (color wheel basics, proportions, and balance) and an analytical approach to design can go a long way. Being on the analytical side myself, I recommend doing visualizations by layering pics of pillows (or other elements) you are considering over photos of your living room. I use a free online app called Olioboard, but programs like Word and PowerPoint have the capability, too (you don't need Photoshop).

Get a narrow console table for that big wall, a painting for over it, and a drinks tray to put on it.

Love your dog! I have had two Golden's in the past - still my now-adult children's favorite breed (neither is in a position to have one yet). Sweet dogs, shed a ton, and one wag from that tail can clear a coffee table in a non-second!

The poster above 'havingfun' posted a photo of a Elle Wei purple pillow....that pillow is the color you need to 'pull' your art work colors down and onto the sofa. You already have that color happening on the side chairs, now just pull it onto the sofa. If you aren't wild about the pillows, think about bringing in the purple with an orchid arrangement on the coffee table. The orchids would replace the current item on the table.

Maybe yellow lumbars on the chairs, and the purple and gray on sofa as accents, staying somewhat neutral and let the art be the star.

Since you have a geometric print on your chairs, you'll want to stay away from geometric prints. You could do something like this.

Thanks for the advice. I have rearranged some of the art (below). I ordered some pillows to tie in the colors of the accent chairs so will update when they arrive. I also ordered a couple side tables for drinks and such.

oooh. I like the changes you've made. I would add a little color with some throw pillows, but probably nothing too nutty. Maybe some solids or simple patterns? Ahem, may I suggest a jersey knit throw blanket? Do you read or watch movies in that room?

We think a darker rug (maybe something with grey or green) would really help. Also we think adding a few pillows will be lovely. The artwork placement and arc lamp work well.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Here a couple photos with some pillows I added. I’m not sure if I’m sold on the combo with the dark gray pillow. I might do the same combo with the light gray in both corners. Thoughts? Also do I need another pillow between the two corners? I thought about a lumbar pillow but thought it looked a little out of place.
