Den Paint Color

I posted about this before, but since I didn't have any photos, I didn't get any responses, so since I finally have photos, I'm hoping to get some responses.

We are slowly(very slowly) remodeling our old log home. We finally finished our daughters bedroom upstairs, so now I would like to turn her old room into a den. At one point, we had the stairs behind the closet taken out and new ones put in, which meant ripping out the closet in order to do the stairs. My husband built the new closet, put up drywall, new stained door and stained baseboard, and painted the wall green(daughters favorite color at the time) for an accent wall. All the other walls have old paneling which is still there.

Since my husband hasn't done anymore with the room(he's doing all the remodeling himself. He'll work on something and then not do anything for a long time, so the way things are going, he will never get to doing anything with this room. I finally decided now that our daughter has her room upstairs, that I will at least paint it, put furniture in and decorate which will hopefully at least make it look a lot better than it does.

I have no idea what color to paint it. I do know that I will most likely go with Sherwin Williams paint. I would like to get it painted as soon as possible, so I am looking for paint color suggestions.

Here are some photos of the room and a few things that will be in the room. Everything you see in the room now will be gone.

Thanks!

I see one photo which looks into a green room. Is this going to be the den, or is this the den looking into another room? Do you have your furniture picked out? Do you have photos of that? It is hard for anyone of us to suggest things without understanding what we're looking at or what you're working with.

The first photo is looking into the den. I wanted to show a bit of what the walls in the LR look like. The door and trim will be gone(soon I'm hoping) now that it is no longer a BR and doesn't need a door.

I will be painting all of the walls, not just the green one.

I'do like to get this room done and was really hoping to get paint color suggestions from those of you that are so good at picking colors.

    Suggestions please! :)

You appear to have a neutral color carpet and oak (?) woodwork, so if it were me I would stay in the brown family.

    Good luck!

    Ilovecomputers,

I was thinking either a brown or off white/cream with hint of brown. My problem is I have no idea of exact colors to get samples of. I don't want to spend a lot of money on samples. I would like to narrow it down to 2-3 colors, get samples of them, put a couple samples on the walls or poster board and just pick one. I don't know if I should do an off white/cream, light beige or medium warmer rustic brown. I am especially having trouble because of undertones. I don't want the wrong undertone and colors look really different on every wall in the room. I've tried puting the paint strips/samples next to each other to help see more of the the undertone from one to another, but that doesn't help. Any suggestions of a couple/few colors(exact color names) from sherwin williams?

I really need suggestions of exact colors to look at because we just painted our dining room up north and I picked what looked like a greige, not blue at all, but it ended up really blue and not greige on the walls. That's why I need help with exact colors to look at.

Here are some ideas These colors are going to look different on your monitor than mine, but I tried to find some brown colors without pink or green

    undertones.

    Ilovecomputers,

So, you think maybe medium to lighter, but not too light, brown would be better than an off white or cream?

Anyone else have an opinion? I'll take any suggestions.

I would appreciate more suggestions of exact colors to look at. Thanks!

I suggest you look at Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore websites to find colors you like.

I have looked at the website and also went to Sherwin Williams and picked up a lot of samples to look at and still can't find a color. I thought I would be able to get some suggestions if I asked. I've gotten help on here before and have seen lots of other posts where people have gotten help with paint color. I'm really stuck and don't have a clue what color would look best, so I was hoping to get some suggestions from those that are good at picking paint colors. I was hoping it would help posting photos of the room and a few things that will be in the room.

Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)
