1970's Rococo bathroom questions - Pics in comments

Hello All,
These are some shots of our 1970's Rococo style powder room. We are planning to do a budget renovation and change this up to a more Moroccan or Zen style. I've already removed some ornate columns from the window wall. Next, I am going to paint, take down the wallpaper, replace the mirror, the countertop, the sink and faucet. I plan to refurbish the vanity, too. The remaining problem is the cornices. There is one over the sink that contains an awful florescent light. And there is another over the window that conceals a shade. Take them out? Or is there anyway to work them into a new design plan?

Also, I am curious about the accessories I'm removing. The faucet handles are solid amethyst and the mirror seems pretty unique. Ebay? Or a consignment shop? Or is this just kitschy junk?

Thanks so much in advance!
-Jennifer
