You have good weather for fig trees

Many thanks! The information is for my niece and her husband, a young family with two early school age boys, who live not too inland from Virginia Beach.

I grow container only fig trees here in Pittsburgh. I don't want to send them young trees that will not do well for them. Thanks again.

I have Marseilles White. Is it the Marseilles mentioned in the post you provided? Or could that be another Marseilles, like M. Black?

I believe that Marseilles White was Thomas Jefferson's favorite fig tree, and I suspect it did well for him, in ground at Monticello in VA. Maybe it was winter protected or greenhouse grown. I would just like to know for sure if it will thrive for my niece in ground. There's nothing like failure to occur for a novice to consequently develop a, "I can't grow figs.", mind set.

They would hand out to the poor once a year this type of fig....

Moses, I think that many figs would produce in the Richmond area but many would also likely freeze to the ground in the worst winters(but still survive). With a little protection they could survive as trees in all winters.

Most reliable varieties are the Mt Etna types, and Celeste is likely another good choice.

Hello, I live in France in zone 7, I have in my garden the fig trees "Ronde de Bordeaux" (unifère, well against late frosts) and "Sultane" (bifère), I find these figs very good.

A neighbour has "white Argenteuil fig trees" and has very good harvests; these fig trees were grown in the Paris region.
