Do you agree with the caption?

Gothic elements with vintage traditional style make this one classy bedroom.

Classy? No. Gothic, yes. I can imagine waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the shadows on that wallpaper. I'd be afraid to sleep there!

I wouldn't call it classy. The somber shades, slight disheveledness and ornate pieces make it feel ever-so-slightly creepy to me.

I like all the elements and dark bedroom decor wouldn't be bad to me. Classy wasn't my first choice for a description, but the bedding looks like it could be silk, the wallpaper looks expensive...maybe as a whole? I wonder if it's better in person?

Too Halloween for me to be considered much of anything.

I like the paper but I think that it may be made to look darker -- especially with the dark bedding. Think of that paper with white bedding, a totally white lamp and perhaps a pop of color in throw pillows. And sunlight coming in rather than a somber and dark photo.

I'd need to see a color photo in good lighting.

Artemis, hah! My suggested caption was going to be, "A muted palette makes it appear that this room was photographed in black and white."

I agree that it is Gothic and traditional. I'm not sure I agree with the implied superlative of "one" classy bedroom. I guess it's nice enough if you like dark.

Something from stately Lego Wayne manor?

    Darkness
    No parents
    Continued darkness
    More darkness, get it?
    The opposite of light
    Black hole
    Curtains drawn
    In the basement
    Middle of the night
    Blacked-out windows
    Other places that are dark

At first, I thought this was a black/white photo and then realized that the whole thing is just dark and gray. Horrid! Seems straight out of the House of Usher.

It does not fit my description of Gothic, which would be either from the Gothic period (12th - 16th Century) or the revival in the Victorian era (somewhat), and I would not call it classy because I do not like how the art is hung - the silver framed piece on the right is probably hung the worst. I don't dislike, however, and the art could be rehung.

It's weird to me. I don't dislike any of the pieces individually. I actually adore the rug!

But the combined impact to me is very unsettling. I really, really don't like it.

I see sadness and gloom. Not at all inviting.

Interesting, intriguing, would love to see the rest of the room/house. Personally I would love to stay there. Maybe I am just sick to death of MCM and modern barnyard!!!

This is a joke right? The rumpled bedding? The too small crookedly hanging picture on the left, the wrinkled rug. I think this photo was taken at a fun house museum, lol!

Had someone posted the bed and/or the bedside table as CL finds, I bet a lot of folks would be oohing and aahing. Rumpled bedding is all the thing in catalogues for down duvets and high end linens. I love the wallpaper, but maybe I would like it even more in a different colorway. It seems kind of quirky and fun to me, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Growing up, I learned that calling something "classy" was not particularly classy, and that it made the "classy" thing seem less "classy" and more tacky. The preferred terms were classic, elegant, sophisticated. I think it's some of that U and Non-U business : ) .

I assume that the headboard and the owl picture are the Gothic elements. I don't think the duvet/cover goes with the headboard, and I find the placement of the frames strange and unfinished. I'd be interested in seeing the rest of the room, or another room in that house, if it's from an actual house and not a catalogue shoot for the wallpaper.

I'll say semi-Gothic, yes to the vintage, semi-traditional, and semi-sophisticated lol.

I like the wallpaper. Full stop.

It looks like a re-enactment of a crime scene. :)

I don't know about the title.

(then I dislike most titles nowadays, either I'm hard to please or. )

I like many elements in this room: the bones(wall, floors) the wallpaper, the art( don't like the placement on the left but hard to see the whole pic)..I quite like the bed and the nightstand.

The bedding throws it off, for me, and I need to think why. I don't have an elegant explanation just yet, I just know I'd use a different bedding in a room like that, period.

Seeing the whole room would be interesting.

(if an owl picture is Gothic then my house lives really dangerously lol.)

It's creeping me out lol. Sweet dreams.
