Again, I agree with gardengal48. I just tossed in that flippant response because I read jstropic's post as just a rant.

I had my share of problems posting a new thread. What I do is start simple and a few words. Then hit 'POST' then go back and edit it. Once established, you can add all the pictures or text you want. Works for me.

So many people here are also on 'All Things Plants' which has a new name 'National Gardening Association'. Takes a while to set up your page the way you want it but I like both because of the people there and here.

My biggest wish is that they have spell corrector not just spell checker. But the spell checker is a big help.

I've run into the most issues when posting from my phone. Not sure if I can post directly from my browser on the phone but if I try to reply through the gmail app, it constantly erases words after I write them. You would think that with people becoming less and less dependent on a laptop/desktop computer and more reliant on cell phones, that they would make their sites more compatible with phones.

Thanks all for responding to my frustrated rant. Mostly use my tablet and phone for the forums, don't know if that matters.

Jody, I had a similar problem, not being able to start a new thread or comment on anyone else's, I think it was about 6 months ago and I too posted a rant but several days later it appeared to clear up on its own. Hoping that is the case for you too!!

I find that posting pictures is very frustrating. I can now only post one picture at a time, and frequently it takes several tries for the one picture to upload

But hellkitchenguy Manuel we don't know what hardware and software you are using so we cannot attempt to reproduce your problem.

I have mostly gone over to garden.org as there are new posts on there daily and people to trade with.

Most are here as well but there are some items I like better but same could be said here. \

Right now I think Houzz is trying to improve this site and some bugs do happen.

Garden Web will not give us our own Sanseveria forum and this site will not give us our own Haworthia forum. +/-

It's not the phone I don't use mine. It is the fact that Houzz has made this site NOT user friendly! It used to just be the garderweb.com and lots of people were on here trading seeds and plants. Go look at the dates on here for how few are using it. The reason is Houzz made it difficult to post your seed trade list and in every other way difficult. They just want you to buy their funiture and products. Wish they had left us alone!

The people who started this great idea must have make some big money selling it and Houzz wanted it to increase their buyers base. Win, win, except for us. Still usable and free so I stay Unlike Dave's Garden who wanted a fee to join.

Garden.org is free and daily people posting whaat they have and are looking for. I went over there mostly.

I hate it that separated paragraphs get lumped into a whole paragraph when using the Houzz app. Paragraphs only work for me when using the desktop/web version.

Also, a new thread I posted did not show up. I did that on the desktop/web version. I redid in the Houzz app. It also didn’t show up. Does it take days for Houzz to post a new thread? If yes, then I will have duplicate threads. He he he.

Right now, the Houzz app has no Edit post function. I’m using iOS 12.0.1.

EDIT: I get it now. Paragraph breaks do show up but only when viewing on a desktop/web browser. There are no paragraph breaks when viewed on the Houzz app. Sigh.

What did you do before joining? There's other sites or just go alone. It's only a hobby after all.

I've been here pretty much since the beginning.....1996? Before that, there were some Usenet boards but the Internet was nothing like it is now and was not nearly as heavily used or accessed.

I admit this site is cumbersome and still has its fair share of kinks to work out. And a lot of it has to do with how you enter and what devices you use to access. But it is by far the most detailed and comprehensive website of its type. IMO, it is well worth figuring out your best way of accessing the wealth of info contained here and the sense of community that is still generated by many of the forums and that cannot be matched by any other similar website or social media platform!!

Agreed, I will really miss the friends I have made here and the wealth of information that I have learned here.

It may get swallowed up into another web site like 'All things Gardening' into Houzz.

Why do you think it's going away? That expiration date means nothing other than maybe the loss of the specific domain name 'gardenweb'....and even that is not a given.

Houzz purchased GW to expand its user base and provide a wider range of topics than was available under its initial platform. None of that has changed.

Personally, I intend to stay and participate until it deteriorates into a non-entity :-) And I seriously doubt that is about to happen any time soon!

For the past two months or so I had been having trouble uploading pictures to this site, so I switched to using mainly garden.org. It has a forum much like this one but it works better.

I have been on this site as well. There are many of us on both. They refuse to have a Sans only forum and this one does.

Photos are ghosted until fully uploaded and hitting submit prior to upload will result in a disappearing photo. Wait for the pic to become full color signalling it is ready. It may take time, because photos direct from a phone or camera are huge by default. See directions here for quicker uploads by resizing images by 20%.

I resize all my pics for upload to be not more then 1000 pixels horizontally.

that's usually sufficient for viewing and uploads fast.
