which paper for accent wall?

Which paper with the black four poster bed ? The grass cloth is my favorite, the floral is my husbands. Is it to busy with the bed? I’m torn. I kept the other furniture pieces neutral to kind of blend in with floor because the bed itself is a statement. The only other black in the room will be French doors. White silhouette blinds were already ordered so I’m stuck with those but I can add drapes to the side of any color to tone them down if needed.

Wow. That bed. Looks like somebody got a lathe for Christmas!

I'm with your husband on this. His choice of wallpaper will make you feel like you're sleeping in a Hawaiian shirt.

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately that wall is the only one skimmed and oil primed for paper. I agree that the opposite wall would have been a better wall, especially with the windows and bed there but it’s to late.

the black flowers w/the black french door? beautiful. I'd put casing around your windows and paint those black as well. Unless you can do black windows

if not: love black window trim and doors. I actually did my own in oak that I stained in ebony.

@tatts I’m laughing out loud over here. I know the bed is crazy, but so am I. Lol! I just didn’t want a boring bed in that room. And it looked fun. We’ll see what it looks like once here though, it may go back. That’s the trouble with ordering things online, it’s a toss up on whether it’ll be what your expecting. But in my area, the furniture stores all have the same boring furniture. So I wanted to do something totally different in that room, it’s not a room anyone will really sleep in.

I like the floral. I think it goes well with the bed, side table and floor. I assume you don't dislike it, it's is just not your favorite.

Beautiful Beth! Thank you! I love black doors, I wanted to paint all of the doors black but my husband only agreed with the exterior doors inside and out. I didn’t consider the trim. I like that.

Houssaon exactly, I don’t dislike the floral. I was just not sure about that much pattern behind that bed that’s already crazy. At first that particular floral paper reminded me of one my grandma had. That may have thrown me off as well. I’ve never been a floral person. But it will definitely pop color on the wall. I think I’ll go with it, I know the grass cloth fades into the background but I was pretty much looking for texture. But I can get that with the bedding. Thanks for your opinion.

We need people like you to take risks for the rest of us. I think that floral wallpaper is not so attractive and you will tire of it easily. I like the grasscloth option, especially with the wonky bed posts. It all looks really masculine together and I am a fan of masculine bedrooms.

If you are wed to dark floral, I prefer these crazy choices, mostly because it is in your house not mine!

I’m voting with you....the grasscloth is the better choice....it will allow you to mix it up more with accent pillows on the bed....like something similar to hubby’s choice. Wow...its going to be a fab room!!

Kendrah I appreciate your input thanks. It’s funny I had 2 of those choices in my saved albums. Now I’m limited in paper choices . I’m choosing what our local store has in stock now. These were a few the decorator in the store showed me. I wasn’t a fan of the floral but my husband didn’t like the grass cloth. I’m going back today to look some more. I had ordered a different one online and there was a mixup with the paper for that room. I’m not normally a wallpaper person but I’m actually doing it in several rooms in this house. I thought I’d save the hassle of rescheduling the installers because they’re busy and I personally know them. But it’s turning into a headache for me . I should have hired a decorator. :)

Thanks Laurie! I’m hoping it turns out nice. I loved that bed in inspiration rooms I’ve seen online. But some of the feedback I’ve since gotten scares me a little about it . The local decorator at the wallpaper store for instance just stared at it in disbelief. Lol! But we live in a small town in Fl where I swear everything is stuck in time. Nothing changes here. If you want different, you have to order online. I want different but not tacky. I guess that’s why Maybe I should have hired a decorator. But I do have a budget and prefer to do the work myself. I’ll get it figured out. I’m looking for everyones differing opinions to weigh so this is great! Thanks so much for your comment.

Really????? This is the best you could find for such a lovely bed.?

We saw the repetitive flowers back in the 70's and they should have stayed there.

Grasscloth is always a good solution, but I'm not sure this color does anything to enhance this lovely bed.

IMO a bedroom a bit more stately and subtle would be a good direction. I have super imposed the bed into this photo so you can see how it might appear.

The bed you selected also comes in a slightly different finish which I also think is quite interesting. It would also be nice in this taupe bedroom.

I would not do either one of those wall paper prints. Neither one seem to make any sense to me with that bed you have selected.

Thanks BeverlyFla I love what you did with these pictures! I do wish I’d have ordered the bed in the lighter color (hindsight) . All of the inspiration pics I saw were of the white washed bed. My original thought was to have the room black and white and I thought the black bed would match the black French doors and other door hardware in the room. The other walls are decorator white. This pic taken was in the evening with no lighting. I’ve been all over the place with ideas, which is why I posed this design dilemma . So thanks for taking the time to help! You seem to be the only person who likes my bed choice. I am going to look at the wallpaper store for a lighter grass cloth. As I stated in a previous comment I now have 4 days to find another choice. As my online choice came in wrong and I don’t want to reschedule my installers. You were a huge help! I appreciate it!

I just found this picture here on Houzz. The others I had saved. Maybe I will get some black night stands and use the others in the other room. I have a whole house I’ve been furnishing from scratch and I don’t like matching sets. Which is Partly why my mind is spinning at this point. But this bed I see can go coastal or contemporary. I love mixing styles. I’m going to go with a more subtle grass cloth, taupe. And I can mix in the white as shown in this picture. Thanks everyone for all of the input! My mind is finally at ease. :)

I think that looks better than the wallpaper. is there an accent wall, or a little alcove or nook you could use the paper instead of behind the bed?

I gotta say...I don’t think you want wallpaper behind that bed. I think the bed is fighting with both those choices. I really like the photos with the bed in the different rooms. Let the bed be the star!

Your bed from NOIR, comes in two finishes. Pale and Hand Rubbed Black

I think the Pale is a bit more visually interesting. It has subtle colors in the finish.

These chests below are also in PALE from NOIR, Any one of these designs would look good with the PALE bed.

Love your bed.................so much I had to think for a few minutes if I should sell off mine and replace it one like yours, but my bedroom is too small with 8 ft. ceilings and it just wouldn't work. Good luck with the remodel.

Thanks for all of your help BeverlyFl. I had that second chest saved in my album but wasn’t sure if it was to much with the bed. I’m glad you gave me this great advice. I love those! Thanks again.
