First, pressure wash the concrete porch and sidewalk so you start with a clean slate.

Have you considered the color Gentleman's Gray or Newburyport Blue? It would really amp up your front entry area. I would go for a black outdoor light in a much larger size than the one you have now.

I like that gray, thank you. I was thinking maybe going so sort of blue (my consecutive nature would get white) the gentleman’s gray is a nice “nonwhite” suggestion. I saved it to my idea book. Thank you so much!

Replace the front door with one that has a modern look and either paint it a bright color or find a nice warm wood. Something like these:

Then I'd paint the exterior a much darker blue/gray, if you like cool tones. But the real issue is that blank wall with no windows. There's no visual interest. Lastly, you need a much larger exterior light fixture next to the door, and maybe even some recessed cans on the front porch. The current fixture is way too small.

Yes the current light is literally the cheapest one at the store that I bought for a temporary fix until I figure out what I want.
Funny about the garage wall, it was when I posted this that I noticed how blank it is.
I like the idea of some light coming through the door, but I don’t want to compromise privacy.

With your door tucked so far into the corner, I don't think you have to worry so much about privacy. But that said, the second door idea I posted above with stacked slats of glass would be a good compromise: light and privacy.

Power wash concrete, add a larger door mat, a colorful painted door with dimensional trim, a much larger light fixture, and perhaps a piece of outdoor art or metal art on the bare wall. A potted plant in a large pot would be good if the area gets sufficient sunlight.

Here's a thought: You have brick on your chimney and a stone wall to the right in your picture. You need to pull those colors into the rest of the house to tie it all together. Getting a pretty wood door in a warm medium tone would do it or paint it to look like wood. There are some "simple" painting techniques with online videos you can watch. Adding 3 sconces to the plain wall on the left in a bronze tone so the light beams down into your garden area would add demension. Then you could put blue and orange flowers beneath. Blue and orange compliment eachother. The plain wall to the right of the door would be a neat place for a small water fountain or a planter on the wall. You could also put another sconce there and have the light shine down and spotlight a pretty planter on the ground beneath it. You could get one with an orange and blue flower pattern to repeat the flower colors in your garden area that's beneath the other sconces. Or a concrete planter with more of the same flowers that are in your garden. I would pick a hanging light for over the door in a bronze finish with similar design lines as the wall sconces but if there's not enough room for a hanging light then get a pretty one that "hugs" the ceiling area in a bronze. The light pattern from a hanging light through the glass on it will add more intrigue to your porch area at night than a simple "can" light. Then finish it off with a door mat that has only your blue, gray and brown colors in it. Good luck!

P.S. The "step wall" on the left front of your picture would be a great place for two low pots to sit with greenery that drapes down the walls like ivy or something else to "break up" the harsh edges. Different shades of greenery (lights darks and whites) would be pretty without competing to much with your other flowers.

Get some round bowl shaped clay pots to keep that area simple in design.

You could also place a matching planter on the left side of the door if you decide to go that way

Hi. The home is a very nice Spanish Contemporary and rather than trying to change it to something else, I'd enhance what you already have.

You might try a creamier white on the body (Benjamin Moore Alabaster, Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige) and blue or gray/blue front door. I would use a color like Sherwin Williams Sanderling on the low wall in the front to repeat the colors on the slump stone wall in the right of the photo and on your eves. I realize you want a front door update, but gray on the house body doesn't look right.

If you have the budget, I swap out the door for something with a pattern and some character.

Actually now that I look at the photo my house has dark gray trim, not white. The windows are white and the doors are white all around.

I like that light very much. Thank you. Also my contractor was leaning toward keeping a white door. Because it matches the windows and interior doors. But so many houzzers have liked blue and greyish blue I’m going to keep that decision open still.

There are times a white door works, but not in this instance. The front door area looks unfinished with the current white door. An accent color OR a different door really changes the whole appearance. Take a look at grovers pic again where she replaced the door with a MCM door and a different light fixture next to the door. Personally, I would paint the door an accent color first if funds are tight because you get the front door focus without having to spend big bucks.

Yes.

Remember when you paint, the color shows much lighter outside than inside so you will want to sample the color anyway just so you get the right shade.

Can I paint the outside of the entry door the blue and the inside white? All the doors inside my house are white.
