I would recommend a much shallower table, perhaps 12" deep maximum. Any more and it will seem to be in the way.

Looks beautiful! I don't think there's room for a table either. If you don't mind me asking who is the manufacturer/name of your new stair carpet? It is really nice and looks very durable.

Yes, I'm a little worried that it may look too cluttered, but that's the only reasonable spot for a small piece of furniture and I was hoping to have a tiny place to throw mail down. Here's what I had in mind, for what it's worth:

mary44 - we love the carpet so far! It is Anderson Tuftex (Plaza Taupe) and it came recommended for heavy foot traffic. I believe we paid $4.50 a sq ft. Hope that helps!

I think the space looks better without anything there, but if you need a table for a drop zone, I would get a much smaller/less bulky one -- something like these -- but be sure to measure your space carefully before choosing (height/width/depth)

Just not enough space there for a piece of furniture. It'll look forced.

I think the first table in kariyava’s post would look great if the size is right. You can toss your keys in a drawer and save yourself a ton of time looking for them!! The entry is very nice.

As a total aside - I love your dining light fixture - do you know its dimensions?

24" is too wide. Something more like a sofa table with open legs/ single shelf. The one you pictured is a bit to rustic considering the DR table/chair style & stair spindles.

Hi Kara! Great name ;) This is the fixture and dimensions — full disclosure, I was able to find it from a different online seller for about $150 cheaper than the price shown here on Houzz. We love the fixture, it looks expensive and we get compliments on it whenever we have a new guest!

Kara here’s a better photo of the light fixture in the space. Seagull Lighting also has the same style with a 6 light body if you need something larger. I will say the 4 light is plenty big (unless you are using in a two story entrance maybe) and gives off a ton of light.

Also, thanks Groveraxle for the mock ups! That helps so much! I think it proved the table I was considering really was too bulky, as much as it pains me to say since it was very cool!

I don’t think that wall by the stairs is your best bet for a table. It looks too awkward. I would try a wall hung Demi lune on this other wall instead. If all you need is a place for keys and a handbag it needn’t be deep and frees up floor space. They come in many different styles buy will take some searching on your part.

Thanks lynartist - what you suggest makes sense.. but for some reason the wall-mounted tables don’t speak to me. I did find this piece that seems dainty, but keeps with the vibe I am trying to bring into the space.
