I am NOT a pro but definitely feel the walls could use some art of some kind. And I agree about the sheer panels, you at least need a valance if you are partial to those.

Could you get a sideboard or something to go along one of the walls? No dining room is complete without a sideboard or breakfront, in my opinion.

At the very least, some art on the walls will help.

I agree that the curtains aren't substantial enough. Sheer curtains don't usually work well in public living spaces. Art is needed as well, but I also think the floor and walls are too close in color. A new wall color would help it feel less flat.

I think your server is a good idea with some neat "things" on it and instead of your wall decor I would go for a nice size picture there (art of your choice but it can be colorful) and perhaps a mirror over your server (to reflect your chandelier)

I agree with the others. The current piece of art is too small for that wall and it's also hung to high. Get some paintings or prints for those large walls. You do need more substantial drapes. Be sure to hang them higher. I think once you get some art and color in there, you see a big difference.

I also think your rug is too small, the chair legs should stay on the rug even when you pull them out to sit down.

I think the rug is fine and so is your floor and wall color. Matching the floor and the walls gives a room a jewel box effect and makes the furniture and everything in the room pop against the monochromatic background. I had a decorator match the color of my walls to the carpet in my bedroom and the results were just beautiful. However since you don't have much going on in that room except the table, I can see why it might seem wrong. But you can't judge a room till it is finished and your room isn't finished. If the paint is new and clean I would keep it and move on to add thing to give the room interest.

Nothing will help more than drapes, as others have advised. If you can't afford custom and you don't sew, then just make sure you buy drapes in lengths so you can go up to the top moulding and make sure to buy more than one length per a side so they don't look skimpy. Also a professional installer, can make the cheapest drapes look good as long as you get them long enough and not too skimpy on widths either. As far as color goes green would be pretty with your rug.

I'm not a fan of area rugs over carpet. Tripping hazard . You need art on your walls and a mirror/s for sparkle in the room.
