I'm in the middle of changing some things around in my kitchen (appliances, wallpaper removal, etc.) after moving into my house. All of that is going well and on its way to completion, but one of the things I find challenging is the lighting. In the kitchen work area I have a 3-light chandelier that provides poor light for the sink and stove area, and also is a little too frilly for me. The light is mounted in the center of the room, but the workspace is all to the right. The ceiling is also slanted.

I would like to replace this chandelier with a different type of lighting that is more up to date and functional-- and hopefully something can be installed in the same place. I am having trouble with finding a light that doesn't seem awkward in this space considering where the mount is and also the slant of the ceiling. Any suggestions?
