Faucets, Shower Trim Advice needed

Bathroom remodel we are remodeling our Masterbath - keeping the Jacuzzi tub but replacing the deck mounted tub faucet (and hopefully adding a handheld sprayer)- need to select faucets and shower components that are traditional - good quality and affordable. We like look of Polished Nickel- I was shocked when we priced out faucets for double sink, shower and tub over $4K - is that typical or is there a better place to shop for quality, affordable faucets? My contractor advised me to stay away from Big Box stores as their products are lower quality and I don't want to buy plumbing problems down the road.

I just placed a order today for 3 Grohe Faucets and one a deck mounted tub faucet that came with a spray. I got the StarLight Chrome which is beautiful. We put one of their single hole fauces in our powder room when we remodeled our Kitchen and we love it. It does not spot and the water runs so smooth,

As I was ordering the shower valve I found this review from someone who was installing the same valve regarding Grohe " Grohe is customer oriented and will give complete valves away to verified owners of Grohe fixtures in the event they no longer stock repair kits. Documented clearly on their Facebook page but more importantly I found only one occurrence of a Grohe shower fixture reporting a shower head drip and this was after 12 years of reliable use....how nice is that? "

I was already set on Grohe but it was nice to see a review like this.

I got the Concetto faucets since I do most of my cleaning and I prefer just one hole in quartz instead of 3. The tub has a very pretty spray handle.

For my shower I am going to use the Euphoria system from Grohe. It's nice and slim looking with a place to tuck the spray cord to keep it from flopping around.

I priced Delta at a plumbing supply company. Much higher price than box stores but better quality. Lifetime warranty. Moen was another choice but I liked the Delta choices better. My contractor gave me the discount he gets.

I forgot to add I'm ordering most of the items through Home Depot ( just around the corner) since I can return if there is a problem. They do not carry the fixtures in the stores for they are considered higher end but I am only spending around less than $2000 for both bathrooms.

You can find Grohe in some of the higher end retailers.

Go to a real plumbing supply house. Your plumber should tell you where. Steer clear of Orange anything.

I think faucets are so expensive because they are not replaced often and last a long time. Have you tried looking online for cheaper prices?

I would suggest considering the faucets you like but in chrome. Polished nickel is usually a much more expensive finish. Please work with a plumbing supply house - roman tub faucets don't come packed nicely in a box... you have to buy the components individually and it is very easy to overlook that mounting bracket that needed to be ordered that costs $100 and takes 4 weeks to get!

Stay with the major brands - if you need parts at some point they will be easier to find.

    Good luck!
