Backsplash help needed

I am doing a kitchen remodel. I picked white cabinets and grey island. The countertop is quartzite and looks like marble. Our floor is travertine.
I love it but I feel just as it is does not match. What color and style I should choose to bring the colors together?
The backsplash is going to go behind the little shelves, and hood and all around the cabinets and around the window reaching the ceiling.
The third wall going to have floating shelves and the wall is going to be painted with a color that would match.
Please look at the picture I attach.
Thank you for all the advices!!

First, I think your kitchen remodel will be a big success! Very nice. I have a couple of suggestions. First, the striped rugs appear that you are "forcing" the floor to complement the gray cabinet. I wouldn't put any area rugs down and keep it "clean". Then, be sure the backsplash will complement the travertine floor and also the marble look counter. BRB

    Thank you.
I was thinking herringbone too but with the shiny grey or sand color subway tile.
The kind you recommend would sure bring the travertine in the picture.
I just would like to keep it simple not to overkill the countertop.

I too was thinking a simple subway tile but couldn't find a nice one that was complementary to the counter and floor. I vote classic subway too.

Yes, that is where I am stuck.
The light grey is matching the counter but not the floor and if I go with the sand color what would be nice to bring the travertine in is just doesn’t look nice next to the countertop.

I agree. The gray marble clashes with the golden travertine. The markings in the marble clash with the markings in the travertine. The rug does not work at all.

Gray or white backsplash is best. Get a couple wooden items one for perimeter and a dough bowl for island. That will tie in flooring without defeating your whites and grays. Your countertops look very classic and have a good bit of movement. Let them be the star. No rugs.

No travertine on the backsplash, the colors will clash horribly with those counters. The floor is wrong for the space, but it's there, just ignore it. Hard to see on monitor, but of those tiles, I would be the lightest warm gray one. Another option is to look something brighter like a mother of pearl mosaic.

See how even one item on island might be enough. Fill dough bowl with lemons or artichokes or red apples. Whatever color makes you happy.

Agree, bright white subway! And get rid of those rugs. Something softer, maybe a gray and ivory to try to mesh the warmth of your floors with the cool counters. Beautiful by the way!

    Thank you all the help.
The rug was thrown there didn’t mean to use that. For sure I am going to rid of it:-)
    I have some samples.
I have no whites yet because of the countertop white is cristal shiny and the regular white won’t match.
I took a pic what I have so far..
    Any suggestion?

Tiles #2 and #4 are the only ones to consider.

None of these will work IMO. OF COURSE, you can find a white or color that picks up the lightest part of your countertop. Tilebar.com.

A high school friend (who is now a successful blogger) did a brick backsplash in her all white kitchen. Not something I would have thought about until I saw the photos.

I love the German smear and the herringbone pattern for behind the range.

I love the brick idea, but do you think that would look good with my marble looking quartzite?

I have two other samples with the one already was ‘considering ‘ status.

    Any thoughts?

First, you have to consider these on the plane they will ultimately be. That means tape them to the wall above the countertop. Looking at them flat/horizontal instead of vertical will change your perception of the outcome. I think the long more narrow tiles could be interesting. Were you thinking herringbone? Those with a light grey grout might work, although the herringbone pattern is busy but with calm colors could work out. I will look for some photos for you to visualize that look. bbl

I like Flo's suggestions. How about traditional subway but in a 4 x 12 format? Then, the natural wood accents and I agree with Flo that it won't take much to tie the colors together.

    what brand is your cabinetry?

You can do 4x12 but be careful of ratio of size for a nice herringbone shape.

I have good feelings with the last 4.

All is white and shiny, the question down to size, pattern, I have 3 samples, the last one is a photo from the store as #4

    What do you think?

The first is cotton white, the picture does not give it a justice

I'd do white with white grout. Maybe arabesque or plain subway white with herringbone over the stove top.

maybe the kitchen wall is all white, and the other are all most of white. a little like white cream..

what about some more active tiles? just like this.

or some special white natural pearl tiles.

    simple but nice

if u love it, pls contact me:)

    hope u have cozy home.

If you are going to use white, pick the one that works best with the cabinets; they will be seen on the same visual plane. You don't want one of them to look dingy in comparison.
